Best dictation software and mic? Need to take a break from typing.
 

Going in for surgery on my hand, need to take a break from typing.

What's the best out there to hear me speak and then write it for me?

I used to use Dragon Naturally Speaking. It worked but almost too well. I've had it type parts of a phone conversation or me yelling at my cat.

Then you forgot to put it to sleep.

Every post I have ever made was using Dragon NaturallySpeaking. It's good, but most people don't have the patience for it. There is a $100 version I believe, give that a try. I use the $200 version.

Which version did you have?

What about your mic?

Also, how accurate has it been for you?

Preferred is what I have. I just use a regular cheap $15 mic. It's quite accurate once you learn how the system works and how to use it to your advantage. It will make mistakes, which you then correct and it should learn from you.

Yeah, I used the more expensive version. I didn't always put it to sleep and I would be looking at a research source or proofreading what I had just done when I got distracted. I have no complaints.

It was always very accurate unless I just had a tooth pulled or was drunk. Then it sucked. :1orglaugh

Were you able to use it for chatting as well by chance?

I think it was 8. I haven't used it for a couple of years and when I bought it it was on the clearance rack at an office supply store.

My hands don't work. Everything I do is done by Dragon NaturallySpeaking. That should give you an idea. ;-)

Here's an idea: you can dictate to a person.
