Just watched "MAN WO STARE AT GOATS"

wanted to say that its something wonderfull - haven't seen such a good movie for some time.
The old Jeff Lebowski Bridges is incredible - this should reserve the hall of fame for him for sure.
Wonder if US guys liked this movie as its bit awkward for US patriotism in some way

fatfoo 05-11-2010 02:11 PM

Some movies are bad for the national image of a country.

For example, the movie "Borat" is banned in Kazakhstan.

I saw it just a couple of weeks ago, and really liked its off-kilter sense of humor.

anyway Man who stare at goats is for open minded people I guess - its victory of the naive good people (even they act bad way sometimes) above pragmatic bad people (even they act good way all the time)

my daughter rented it the other day but i didnt watch it didnt look all that good :2 cents:

Doug of Montreal 05-11-2010 02:19 PM

I heard it was crap but thought the previews were solid so I rented it the other day. It turned out much better than expected! And I'd agree... Bridges was solid.

Victory of naive good people against pragmatic bad people. This is interesting. It reminds me of the criminal system and how different laws are supposed to work. For example, it's not a crime to be stupid. A genius bad man gets jailed sometimes.

Stupid movie. You have to be totaly stoned to watch that and enjoy it.

Honestly, it was one of the worst movies I've ever seen, on an entire number of levels.
I like the idea, but the execution and plot was terrible.

how true man - hard to tell good from bad - depends on criteria and each of us has different ones right

I thought it had the potential to be pretty good, and it had the makings for it, but...... just fell kind of..... well....... short.

SykkBoy 05-11-2010 04:22 PM

I liked it but felt it tried to hard to be a Coen Brothers movies and they just have that touch that can't be copied.

seeandsee 05-11-2010 04:26 PM

i got it and never had straight to start it

flpartyduo2 05-11-2010 04:31 PM

shut it off after 15 minutes - boring

Caligari 05-11-2010 05:11 PM

yes pretty good film, kinda crapped in the end but overall decent. good acting. the background story is pretty intriguing as well. remote viewing and all that stuff.
