Well..not really. He said that he knows he can't be leader of the party in the long term. That isn't really the same thing. He is still the PM until we figure out which party is actually going to hold Parliament. This is all being said today because at the start of the day the Lib Dems started the whispering game that they would only seriously negotiate with Labour if Brown stepped down today. He did and now they are apparently in official talks. Though, it is fairly clear there have been unofficial ones already.

Oh, I am with you on that. I don't know if you have ever watched Thick of It but in it they had nearly the same thing happen. So, when it happened for real it was just too surreal.

The Liberal Democrats and they are not anti-American (and trust me, I wouldn't hide it if they were) but they were against the war. They also feel the UK should be more closely aligned with mainland Europe than the States. Whoever is in power is going to fight hard to shake 'America's lapdog' image so won't be working too hard to be buddy buddy with the States as far as outward images go.

the difference is that the government in the UK allowed the new members of the eu to come to this country where as most of the others have delayed allowing them no entry restrictions.

the result was a sudden big influx of eastern europeans putting pressure on social housing, healthcare and jobs. poland now has the second highest population at birth, in the uk at 500,000+ whereas in 2004 it wasn't in the top 60.

that's not quite right is it, all the eastern european countries take out a lot more money that they receive, they give a dollar and get three or four back, whereas the UK's net contribution is the second highest behind germany and costs the uk billions of dollars every year. so you should be grateful that the uk is in the eu because its subsidising your country.

I disagree Eastern Europeans work fucking hard. They do the jobs the Brits won't do like the farming at 6.00am till 10.00pm at night. Painstaking hand picking of crops. They have the right attitude too.
Im all for Eastern Europeans coming over. Like fuck they put a strain on the economy. Its the lazy British with no jobs because they won't compete with the hours and hard work who are not helping.
There are always anomoylies to the case, but thats the way I am seeing things in Norfolk on the farms over here

or you could say that the influx of workers has flooded the jobs market making it impossible to be a manual labourer and still get paid the same wages you did five years back. Being in the EU has only been of benefit to the big companies who can now offer lower wages as they know that if noone from Britain will take the pay then they can just import immigrant workers, which will mean that the whole of europe will eventually see their wages match the earnings of workers from the lowest paying countrys. In the good old fashoned way, companies had to pay more to get people into the job now they can just bus over people from eastern europe.

That guy was "rewarded" with his office by people behind the scenes who are really in control after selling out his countrymen by selling a large chunk of England's gold about 9 years ago when the market was just about to explode. sure, pay a decent wage and job's a good un. Also if thats the worst job you can think of then you haven't lived. i worked in the sharp end of the NHS for 10 years so having my arm's elbow deep in shit or blood is nothing to me.

EDIT - BTW, the NHS is a perfect example of how the boarderless europe doesn't work. Nurses will now NEVER get a proper wage. most words are now staffed by massive amounts of overseas nurses and the hospitals are suffering because of it. A simple example, communications are now almost non-existant because people just cannot understand each other, there are no real checks on the english skills of workers and if the staff cannot understand each other then how can the patients. I could go on and on about this but to be honest i cannot be bothered. Just, the next time you go on a hospital ward, count how many times nurses say "pardon" to each other.

I have to agree with this one... I had a doubtful pleasure to work here in some hardest physical jobs and there were not many British that worked with me... 90% was Polish, Slovaks and black people.... But well, not all British are lazy, I've met some very hard-working British as well but most of them were in their middle age or even older. I guess it's the new generation of British that is too lazy to work.
