i wonder if Einstein thought everyone else was an idiot?
i've noticed here at gfy it's not uncommon for people to say "90%+ of the population are idiots" i.e. pretty much everyone but me is an idiot if they don't think like i do or agree with what i think.
so it got me wondering if an Einstein would/did think that way about everyone else. i don't believe he did though, from the documentaries and such, he seemed to have an understanding, concern, respect and empathy for those around him. :) |
Maybe you can think about people like chess pieces. I'll be a pawn today.
|
I'm sure that, like most geniuses, he had very limited patience for stupidity.

Maybe not, but I bet if he had GFY to vent on.. he would have. :)

so i would imagine an einstein would go apeshit if he really got caught up in all that. but he didn't. or didn't appear to anway. |
Anyone can dismiss someone as being stupid and useless, but it takes someone with a great mind to understand others from all walks of life.
|
Not really, he was interested and active in far too many areas to even care about this.
Plus there were many brains in his environment to challenge him. Eventually, you don't have to be a genius to realize that to care about a hobby such widespread such as idiocy is utterly and completely unproductive. |
it would make a pretty funny comedy sketch to have Einstein trying to explain the theory of relativity for the 1st time and freak out cause the idiots just don't get it!
lolololololololol |
I just watched a movie on Comedy Central yesterday and somebody asked the exact same question... weeeiiiirdd...

Btw. I wonder how many people know Einstein actually didn't receive his Nobel Prize for the Theory of Relativity |

i admit i was not aware of what he won the prize for either. good to know though:thumbsup |

Alfred Adler thinks that an 'inferiority complex' might be to blame for Einstein calling others 'idiots' ahah

Lol, Nah ! Was joking because Adler is famous for his 'inferiority complex' which speaks to the problem of self-esteem and it's negative effects... for example putting someone down by calling them an "idiot" (subconscious feeling that one is inferior to others in some way) |

since the fluctuation dissipation theorem applies both to classical and quantum mechanical systems I am sure he wouldnt think of most as idiots. but you never know.

i'm sure einstein could appreciate the fact that if you stuck 10 dumb people in a room , the smartest one isn't "smart" he just isn't as dumb as all the rest.

On a side note: Stupid and idiot are two very different things at least in my mind. Stupid is someone that is not very intelligent. Being an idiot really has more to do with their behavior or their inability to use knowledge correctly. |

i can't count how many times i've read *90%+ of the population should kill themselves* or something to that effect here at the gfy. the irony is, i'd wager, everyone else would prolly put that person in their 90%+ of the pop should kill themselves group. in other words- everyone is an idiot except the person making the everyone is an idiot comment. :upsidedow |

He was wrong, of course. Albert was quite intelligent and had his moments. I mean, everything's relative. |

To the outside observer , i suppose you would have to be smarter than the ten people beforehand or you may very well pick 10 smart people who act dumb. ( if you were smarter you would know they are fooling you :) ) |
Acting like a smart ass doesn't make you smart.
