remake of Nightmare on Elm St wasnt so bad..
granted the original is a classic...
also if they would have cast Robert Englund to play Freddy in this remake then it might have been better.. The "newer" Freddy looked basically like a burn victim...nothing scary at all as compared to the OF Elm St Freddy... I enjoyed it but wasn't "wowed" .... if they would have done a few things differently this remake would have really been much better ---- fatfoo defenses up.... A Nightmare on Elm Street is a 1984 American slasher film directed and written by Wes Craven, and the first film of the A Nightmare on Elm Street franchise. The film features John Saxon, Heather Langenkamp, Ronee Blakley, Amanda Wyss, Jsu Garcia, Robert Englund, and Johnny Depp in his feature film debut. Set in the fictional Midwestern town of Springwood, Ohio, the plot revolves around several teenagers who, if they fall asleep, will be killed by Fred Krueger in their dreams, thus causing their deaths in reality. The teenagers are unaware of the cause of this strange phenomenon, but their parents hold a dark secret from long ago. |

I have no interest in seeing it, the previews look a little dry to me. I'll netflix it when it comes out

it was no were near as good as the orginal...though that blonde is fucking hot!!

I simply dislike remakes because they rarely capture the essence of the original. They rely mostly on better cgi to compensate for poor directing or stupid actors. Look at what they did with Friday the 13th remake
|
Not going to watch it anyway...
|
That was the worst movie ever, me and the wide walked
out 20 minutes in to the movie |
Shit. I really wanted to see the movie. I think I will see it tomorrow. The previews looked good
|
The only way I would watch it is when it reaches cable. And even then I might only stand a few minutes.

All of my favorite horror movies have been butchered to hell. I wont watch the Freddy remake, ever. I'm a hard core Freddy fan, yo. My mom still has my kindergarten notebook, and guess what I was doing while everybody else was learning how to spell their names? Drawing Freddy Kruger! True story!

Sorry if anyone feels this post contains 'spoilers' but I personally don't feel they are....
First up I HAD somewhat high-hopes for the new Freddy movie, I had not however seen ANY shots (that were light enough to see) the new look they gave Freddy, when finally seeing the new freddy in the movie I was PISSED, he did not just look like a burn victim he looked (as my daughter said so perfectly) like a CAT... she dubbed him "Freddy Cougar" Next up, was there REALLY any need what-so-fucking-ever to switch Freddy from a child killer to a child molester??? at least as a child killer you could still kind of root for him in the first 8 movies, but can you really sit and 'root' for a child toucher??? Am I the only one who honestly does NOT need a LOUD ASS sound cue to know when a character is dreaming?, I mean we've all made it almost 20 years of nightmare movies without needed any sort of sound cues to know that someone nodded off lol. Last but not least, Jamie did as good as a job as he could have playing Freddy, BUT he seemed to not bother to change the voice he used when he played Rorschach in watchmen. Don't get me wrong, the movie was not horrible, and it did not suck, but I just think they could have done much much better to revive this franchise! It DID make a shitload of money opening weekend so we can almost bet dollars to donuts that sequels will be coming. -Loki- |

What intrigues me about the movie is the new freddy...Does anyone know who that guy is? It's Jackie Earle Haley who played # The Bad News Bears (1976) .... Kelly Leak

I was wearing my freddy glove shirt out and about around 2 weeks ago. Some kid came up to me and asked me if I was stoked to see the remake. When I told him no he looked at me like I had crushed his soul. Ha ha.
One of my friends said it's not as bad as everyone is saying. I guess some of the things in this version Craven wanted to do in the original but wasn't able to pull off at the time. I will see it for sure but doubt its something I'll go to the theatre to see. |
