Pros: I can drink beer, jerk off, play video games, smoke pot, and listen to death metal while at work.

Con: Having to look at your gigantic signature.

cons- i get sleepy after

I love the online industry not just porn.

Can go to Aruba, Bahamas, St. Maarten take my laptop and cell phones & keep things churning along while on vacation or relaxing. Waking up every morning with more money in the bank. Can't beat that.

Pros:
I have a lot of freedom and can live and die on my own sword. I get to shoot my own personal porn flix financed by others. I get to make more money than working for someone else, and have a lot more perks. I can do 90% of my work from any where in the world with a computer and internet connection.

Cons:
Dealing with a lot of fucking idiot hobbyists with no business sense.

Pros.
I work when I like.
Been off work for two years and still making money.
Get to see lots of fun naked girls.
Making loads of money on my limited skills.
Travel the world and stick it down as a business expense.

Cons.
Can't really think of any real cons.

Damn this is going to come across as corny as hell but aside from the fact that naked people having sex is fun to look at, there is good money to be made and I can spend time with my family.... I love the fact that we are all, in small ways, defenders of the First Amendment (for those of us in the US). I am actually proud of that and the fact that we force people by our presence to confront their own sexual hang ups. I think we do society a lot more good then bad

Work my own hours and whenever I want
No boss
More freedom
Can take vacations and still get paid
I can blow off working for weeks at a time and still get paid
I don't have to wait til pay day to get paid since I get checks or epassport almost every day
I can jerk off at work
I have more time to do things around the farm and home
I make more $$ doing this than I did working at the law firm


CONS:

Accounting is a fucking nightmare
Income verification can be a difficult discussion when seeking mortgages/financing
Record keeping is a fucking pain in the ass to keep track off
Too many shady fuckers in this biz.
Working at home can be a pain in the ass if you're married, cause the wife constantly interrupts you when you're in the middle of a project

Is that true? I wouldn't even have a clue. Never worked for anybody else. But I wouldn't understand why a programmer for instance would have any trouble with it.

Why couldn't a person in this industry work "mainstream" (which by the term mainstream I suppose you mean anything but adult)

I wouldn't work for anyone anyway. If I did anything "mainstream" I'd start it myself and own it. But I can't for the life of me think of anything in mainstream that makes this kind of money...unless selling drugs is considered mainstream lol

That's why you form an LLC and pay yourself a salary. Then it's no longer a problem. :)

Anyone feel that not being about to be open and honest about what you do for a living is a con...or a pro?

I am open and honest about what I do so for me its not a con, for lots I would imagine it would be though.

That's sort of a gray area for me.

My first reaction to it is: "It's not anybodies business what I do for a living"

But I'm not sure if that's an honest reaction or one formed because of the stigma attached to what I do.

Maybe that's why it's cool to go to industry shows where you can be openly proud of your accomplishments with like-minded people? I guess it would be pretty cool to be able to tell your neighbor how happy you are with the DP scene you shot that had the lighting just right. heh-heh

The reason I love this industry is I've always felt you're only held back by your own limitations.

The only thing I dislike about the industry is its the biggest small world there is. People lurk, spy, meddle and they love to steal. I create, and its difficult for me to completely separate emotion from business. I also like to think of myself as a cautious person with a thick skin, so when someone does manage to steal from me, I take it very personally.


I don't think so. Unless you're putting your first and last name out on press releases you're fine. Almost every adult company has a mainstream friendly DBA. Don't lie, but just be mindful on your wording in your resume.

Pros:

Can work from home
Creative urges can be channelled into new projects

Can feel isolated at times
When sales dip I go nuts until they are back on track

I'm good at what I do and I have never worked has hard for anyone in the past as I do for myself with my own company, which translates to better customer service and happier clients.

Con's:

There are no con's, only opportunities for more pro's that you have not yet found out how to convert. What you perceive to be pro's and con's are in fact just another form of traffic (in this case, traffic of opportunities), and the name of the game is still finding out how to convert. :2 cents:
