Has the flood in Tennessee been on the news in your area?
http://www.wkrn.com/Global/story.asp?S=12426439 for more info.
The Nashville area has been hit incredibly hard in this last week with devastating rains. The most rain in 80 years. So many families have lost their homes, 19 so far have been found dead. The city and state has joined together and there is a tremendous amount of help being provided to those that need it, but they need more. We are the volunteer state and the people out helping each other is amazing. I haven't been affected by it, and none of my family and friends had substantial damage, but many many have lost their homes. The national news has done a poor job of letting the country know what is happening here. Below are some links to donate to help. Please spread the word to get others to help, or donate to help get these families back on their feet. http://nashvillest.com/2010/05/03/so...ow-can-i-help/ ------------------------------------------ The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee: In partnership with the Mayor?s Office of Emergency Management, donate online to the Metro Nashville Disaster Response Fund and/or the Tennessee Emergency Relief Fund HERE (checks can be mailed to P.O. Box 440225, Nashville, TN, 37244). Middle Tennessee Red Cross: Donate online at www.nashvilleredcross.org, by phone at 615-250-4300 or by mail at 2201 Charlotte Avenue, Nashville, TN 37203. Remember, the Red Cross is not a government agency and is funded solely by your local donations. Second Harvest Food Bank: Give a monetary donation to our superstar food bank HERE. Salvation Army: Monetary donations are preferred and can be made online HERE or by phone at 1-800-SAL-ARMY. First Tennessee Bank: First Tennessee has pledged to match donations made by employees and customers, dollar for dollar, up to $250,000. Donations can be made at any First Tennessee Bank location. |

im not far from nashville and were still flooded bad.... feel bad for the people that lost everything
|
Floods are the worst man, I have mor than one person in my family that lost their entire house in Hurricane katrina. I mean, the whole damn house was gone. My uncle found his jacuuzi in a tree down the st, he came back to nothing but a slab. Entire house washed away... my dad also lost a rental home, the whole thing just destroyed... etc...
its hard to get back on your feet after. sad to see first hand. |
It's been on here.

Im in Northern GA so it's been news here. That storm missed me by about 100 miles. We got rain but not the brunt of it.

You know thats the funny thing, I live in Kentucky, just North of Tenn and not a whole lot being said here about it. But I was asked about it from the guys over in NL who were concerned it might be affecting me. Seems it might be getting more eyes internationally then here in the US
BTW< Rachel Maddow is talking about it right now on her show, death toll up to 31 over all the states that had flooding |
Mother nature can be very cruel ,fuckin sucks :(
|
HI sticky Damm thats bad news for the people who are affected.. glad you and your family are ok Nice avatar btw :)
|
My parents are in cookville. They were not affected but were in the area when the flooding started. They drove their RV back home and decided it was not a good idea to go sightseeing.

I dunno what news you guys watch, but I turn on one of the 24/hr news entertainment stations once or twice a day and it's been the same 3 stories for the last week.
In no particular order.. the only news has been.. Moron SUV bomber Oil Rig spill Tenn flood I do believe they will be working on a 4th story as some NFL guy raped some chick. I sure hope they don't over do it though as 4 stories might be a tough one to handle. sarcasm aside.. it's been all over the news for days. |

Its not just me saying this. http://blog.newsweek.com/blogs/thega...lle-flood.aspx As the article says, more people were hearing about the Tattoo chick Jesse James was banging, and how Sandra Bullock was reacting then people dying in flood waters. |
I'm wearing river water cologne.. I can't get the smell off of me and it will be that way for awhile I guess.. It's a mess. Helped a family friend haul a half a million dollar life long gun collection out of his "safe room" today. May be a complete loss. It's tough seeing a grown man cry.. I've seen it twice today.
|
I've heard it on the news but it hasn't been covered heavily. Probably a mix of some other big stories going on (SUV terrorist, oil spill) and the fact the public is more concerned with who got fake tits on some reality show.
At least be thankful that a white girl didn't go missing, otherwise you guys would really be left in the dark. |
