Getting surfers to install toolbars?
 

Have any of you had success with getting surfers to install toolbar add-ons to their browsers? I am considering this ...

I had a customer contact me about this. I got the toolbar written to his specs & he offered it free on his network of sites. Out of about 200K visitors, less than 400 installed it. Pretty dismal if you ask me. I was going to do something similar, but after that I decided against it.

Did he steer them to a page where they were presented with an auto install box or did he just offer a link to it? I want to do something in conjunction with free porn, like if they install the tool bar, they get fresh galleries everyday, etc..

You might reconsider that idea..... a lot of families share computers. Maybe you could lock down the adult toolbar usage or something with a passcode.

Thanks for reminding me of that.. that is a consideration.. maybe it would be better if I used my toolbar scheme to promote my non porn sites.. :)

What a colosal waste of time.

For starters no one in their right mind is going to put a porn toolbar on their computer - Especially if there is any chance of dear ol' mom sitting down during a visit to check her email and see a toolbar that leads to ball draining anal cum shots....

Make it a mainstream one you say?

Every "big" company out there has one already. They're really not going to download "Joe Blows" network of little sites just cause you've built in your referrer code into the sales links.

They might bookmark your site - but not enough people would download the toolbar to make it anywhere near a worthwhile project.
