Build more back links to those pages so google doesn't drop them.

Quite the opposite. I heard on CNN this morning that the execs at Google called for an emergency investigation into what they are calling the teencat issue.

Sounds pretty serious to me.

Wow, I didn't know that term was still in use.
Thought that one was dead & buried a while ago.... lol

some of my best blogs never updated past day one. still build links though.

fatfoo 05-01-2010 09:06 AM

10+ page? That sucks. Good luck, TeenCat. It sure is better to get on the 1st or 2nd page for the search results of a good keyword. Usually, a frequently updated site gets a better ranking. It is strange that the opposite is happening for you.

Here are some things that will help you achieve a better ranking in Google: good keyword density, high PR, more backlinks to your site.

this has been true for quite some time. there is no inherent value to updates and there hasn't been since 2006/07 when google made their major updates. the only value to updates with blogs in the past was that it created a new page - which created a new set of backlinks/more backlinks to index page and whatever other pages you linked to.

today, i personally don't think there is any benefit to updates at all - it just throws everything into a death spiral if you don't have the volume of backlinks to hold it there to begin with.

many top porn results are still tgp's. they aren't there because of frequent updates ;)

Actually you are wrong. In your eyes it may look how tgp sites never update, but they actually update more often then blog thanks to rotator scripts. This is because google bot see sites different then surfers, for example on tgp sites you might see just a bunch of pictures without any text, but what google see is tons of text because of alt descriptions. And that is why tube sites and tgp/mgp sites will always hold major positions, not blogs.

no. people who dominate the serps - whether it be blog or tgp or tube - simply bust their ass getting backlinks more than their competitors.

the rest is secondary.
