I'm the exact opposite... icq or email... NO phone. This way when you do exactly what they ask, and they say "that's not what I wanted" you can copy and paste their exact words back to them.

I like to have clients e-mail or use my client management forum as it's a way to see notes by the customer and myself and all the questions asked. I will get on the phone at any point with a client, but things get lost over the phone and you have no written documentation other than your notes. I hate ICQ and try to avoid it as much as possible.

i hear ya

im two clicks on a cell away, no need to type out that long ass email LOL send me the details in an email but discussion is the best, and cannot be beat by email.

Email are for the specifics details, call is like the handshake of it.

of course i still ask clients send me an email with specific details. Just as I tell them on ICQ, send me emai "so I have the details of your project handy at all times in a hard copy form"

been doing it that way for over 7 years

Like you said, some people don't like talking on the phone. I'm one of 'em.

well, I think if its just some new client sending an inquiry, of course shoot an email.

I am talking about regular clients I guess.

Some clients want to use phone before even sending details, hah!

Ive had some nice big deals that had I not got on the phone, may have not gotten, and some clients (in my experience) prefer phone. Choker is like that. You get on ICQ with him and he gets frustrated typing and is like "Fletch can I just call you?" hehehe
