How to overcome Visa restrictions...

If in any case it is finally enforced (forbidding cross sales soon), I think eventually a new business model around "scale sales" will emerge, starting maybe with initial payments of $19.95 or even $29.95 as in the good old times
Once inside the site, the challenge is to base this new model on the "addiction" and "impulsive buying" factors associated to Porn.
So the goal is to work on the constant luring of the surfer inside the members area and by email. That is, have the member "scaling" or "upgrading" to more and more stuff, to premium content with interesting tempations so he keeps himself VOLUNTARLY submitting his Visa, MC or cel wallet.
The sponsors will need to benchmark from the experiences of business models from other entertainment industries as:

- ITunes store products
- IPhone apps (basic free apps vs. premium apps, as those found in games)
- Token-by-the-clock content (I'm sorry Sir, your access expired, please deposit another $10 with your credit card or cell wallet)
- Gambling methods (somekinda "legal betting" or "luck" offers? ...who knows!)
- Subscriber lists that get the surfer cheaper access in a "pay only $5 in the next 12 hours by pressing this link"
- Ticket plans and access tricks used in the parks of Disney and Universal Studios (what about a 4-day Hooper or Express Pass to adult content?)

In the end, the trick will be based on "Fap-It Until You Drop" strategies, with the "cc meter" working....ca-ching...ca-ching...

Some of these ideas might sound stupid for you, but it's free to post it anyway hehe...
We still have to work a lot on the "urges-->charge($)-->satisfaction" formula. I believe the new alchemy is there waiting for this coming decade.

I just think "High-Charge Porn" is not dead... it's just that the current business models have just expired (once again) -or Visa just decided it's time to look for another one.

As always good luck all!

well it's an interesting way to look at it. I have never done cross sells, may have inadvertently promoted them... The modern paysite model will have to do something imho regardless.

So basically, 1-click upsales.

Its a major problem if you guys can't survive without cross sells.

Porn 101: Build a site with a good backend with tons of content and update it often and your members will keep rebilling.

Bingo. :thumbsup

If the affiliates get credit for those upsales it would be awesome.

I don't even send my surfers to some sites that pay a high PPS because I don't want them to get screwed with cross sells, etc. I want my surfers to trust what I'm pushing. That last thing I want is a long time surfer to click an ad on my site and get charged $100+. He'd never buy anything I'd push again.

so I guess we'll see a downward adjustment of PPC offers then?

You said impulse buying. This is a great sales method. You have to make the sale when the person is in the hightened state of emotions after being recently excited about the product. In some cases, a business may also get a person drunk or intoxicated and make a sale to the drunk or intoxicated person.

Affiliate doesn't necessarily have to get credit as long as you offer pps. If your revshare only then yes that could be an issue especially when your talking anoint cheap innitial mberships. I do appreciate your outside the box thinking. Nice work.
