On my 18th birthday I bought my first AR-15.
18 years later I decided to give it a face lift.
I had a bunch of spare parts laying around from other projects and decided to change things up a bit. The top pic is the original rifle and the bottom 2 are the same rifle with a few modifications. :) http://ampcontent.com/pics/ARUpgrade.jpg |

I knew you were a Rambo type of guy :winkwink:
Nice set up. |
Whats the fat thing on the bottom of the pistol grip for?

Should've kept it original. :2 cents:
|
Nice rifles. What are you shooting? Targets , live game?
|

Mine is still stock, I want to put an M4 type butt on it, is that a heavy barrel?
|
Stranger danger.

Targets and Aliens. |

No, but it is the original so after 18 years and a LOT of ammo, it really should be replaced. |

That was done with spare parts. You should see what I build from scratch. :winkwink: |

Alright, I need to learn something today too. Does the hand grip on the magazine slot perform any specific purpose, or is it just for comfort carrying?

It's for faster loading of mags as well as a front grip. |
i must be on ignore :(
cool. |

Canons work much better than a rifles for that though. :winkwink: |

Why would I have you on ignore? Glock 22. |

To be honest, the grip part is not very realistic for a rifle of this length. It's more for Carbine length or shorter rifles but it offers more options and faster loads either way. Here's my carbine... http://ampcontent.com/pics/AR-15/New004.jpg http://ampcontent.com/pics/AR-15/New005.jpg http://ampcontent.com/pics/AR-15/New006.jpg |

Nice gun, Im planning o getting a glock, not sure which though, i got small hands, might go with that small dogg (19), but i dont like compact, so might just go full... |

I've fired a lot of Glocks over the years and I really don't like most of them. Just the way they feel when you pull the trigger...Recoil and whatnot. I'm a big fan of the .40 though so I bought the 22 and love it. Before that I carried a 9mm Sig P228. Never been a fan of compact or sub-compacts. |

I'm not really interested in paying a gun smith considering I build my own AR's from scratch. I'm currently working on a matched pair of 26" precision .204 Ruger AR's. |

Too bad you're Canadian. :1orglaugh |

Its either a glock or one of those Sigma 9m from SnW |
Looks good. do you still use this?
|
i refuse to carry one of those fucking bersa things lol
I might let my wife carry the Bersa 380 lol |
nice works!
questions- what distance you figure that is good for/scoped in for? why have the scope on the one without the tripod and the laser siting on the one withthe tripod? |

I don't have a tripod or laser on either. I have a piece of shit bi-pod on the carbine and have ordered a nice Harris bi-pod for the full length rifle. The sight on the carbine needs to be replaced with an EOTech. |

Here are a couple more that I did some upgrades to for a fellow GFYer.
Basic DPMS M4gery with upgraded Magpul stock, forearm, and pistol grip. Then swapped out the round forward assist for a teardrop one. Also got rid of the ugly front post sight and replaced it with a picatinny rail gas block. Add a grand to the price tag for the ACOG sight. http://ampcontent.com/pics/DPMSBuild.jpg This is a Barrett 6.8mm SPC. It has a one of a kind custom built Daniel Defense rail that was required to fit around the gas piston system. Ambidextrous safety lever, anti-walk trigger pins, Magpul stock and forearm grip, & troy flip-up sights that co-witness perfectly with the EOTech. http://ampcontent.com/pics/BarrettBuild.jpg http://ampcontent.com/pics/BothBuilds.jpg |

Make? Well...It's custom built so there is no "make" or model that you can walk into a gun store and buy. It's based on a pre-ban Eagle Arms lower receiver but the rest of the parts are from all over. It's a .223 cal. and it took me around 1.5 years to build that one because there are some one of a kind custom made parts for it that took a lot of time to special order. These days most of the parts can be easily ordered though. If I have all the parts on hand then I can build one in a couple of hours. You can use off the shelf barrels but most of the rifles I build have custom barrels that typically take a minimum of 4 to 6 weeks. |
