When you have "too much on your plate" ...
So I recently had a baby, she is 5 months old already, and it is time to get back to some biz.
Is it just me, or does springtime make you go a little nutty and give you the desire to make changes in your life? I don't do the New Year resolution thing, but by this time of the year I feel like simplifying my life. Plus the last few years lots of major changes in life. It can get hard to focus. Too much on my plate. Way too many domains. I think for a long time I have just sort of moved on to other projects and really need to go back and clean things up. I've let so many domains expire, it pains me, but I cannot do everything I want to do. Its fucking frustrating as hell. I have a zillion things that could totally profit, but spread too thin. Anyone else feel this way? sometimes it is difficult to even decide where to begin! |
Often often.. 30% of my time goes to structuring myself and my work. Spring is good for changes, winter is much better for work (dark days).
|
i am really in bad period , lazy, angry etc, i need to find exit
|
K.I.D.S. Admit it, your life will never be the same again.
|
Make a list and work your way down it. The 1st thing being the most important and the money makers. It will keep you organized and give you a sense of accomplishment as you mark stuff off. Kids will change your life too. I was an MP in the Army when I had my son. Now I design porn sites and live on the beach and could not be happier with life.
|
yeah you guys are right, I know I am in an adjustment period right now, transition etc.
30% structuring huh, sounds about right... that is where I am lacking right now. I keep making lists, but I lose them. :1orglaugh I want a condo in Studio City too, simple life please. lol |
I have too much on my plate too.

Focus on 2 or 3 things at most otherwise every project will suffer... Keeping your plate down to 2 or 3 items will not only make you less crazy but also let you create better products across the board. :thumbsup

I just moved 2 weeks ago after having lived in a condo for 3 years (Lived in Van Nuys and moved to Woodland Hills). It's been a welcome change of scenery for my wife and I. Change is great! Good luck to you all and hope you find the change you're looking for.

I'm in precisely the same boat, have a 4 month old nipper, haven't spent enough time doing hard graft this year yet. Have let about 40 domains go this year already, trying to trim everything down to 3 or 4 main projects, max.
There is always the danger of spreading yourself too thin, then not doing anything properly. Fletch owes me an email btw! |
I've been that way for years. I need 3 of me.
|
I have basically always been like this (once I started working anyways), I've got an ideas/todo list a mile long, once I finish one thing I never have enough time to get it off the ground because I'm occupied with the next thing...
|
Just for the first time ever got mostly all of my domains operational. It felt nice, for about an hour.

There was a famous race car driver here who had a fantastic saying :
"If you bite off more than you can chew, chew like hell" |
I'm pretty much Mr. Mom full time and with a third on the way, it doesn't look to be ending any time soon. My to do list doesn't shrink it grows.
I manage these days with about 5-6 hours of sleep each night. |

5-6 hours isn't too bad. But I don't know how people manage with kids so close together now that I have one. Do you guys have help? damn, 3?? good luck to you both! |
My mom comes a few days during the week and I get some real work done then.
Otherwise, I get up before them and get stuff out of the way. Then during naps and while they eat...I get some stuff done. It's tough. It's tiring. But it's worth it. |
Motivation can be tough to come by at times. To motivate myself I pick something out I want to buy and only let myself buy it when I have increased my income by that much. If I want a new watch that costs $5k and my monthly income is $10k I will not buy it until I make the extra $5k whether it takes 1 month of making $15k or 2 months of making $12.5k.
In the end you will see that your income keeps going up as you come up with more things you want to buy. Net effect is more money in your bank acct. Believe in yourself, believe you can do it and you will. |
thank you everyone for your nice posts... I had to make another thread now. lol

I don't understand why you guys don't sell your domains instead of just letting them go. Doesn't make sense unless they weren't worth anything to begin with.
