Selling a car is a PAIN!

This is such a pain in the ass trying to sell a car... let alone two of them

The nonsense that people ask is beyond me, let alone the non stop phone calls with spam and services offered.

I listed two cars up late last week and of the 30 phone calls I got only 4 were actual people looking to buy the car. The rest were companies trying to sell me ad services to even car insurance... WTF???

The offers that people make are absurd... 2/3rds of what I'm asking for? Another guy said he will pay me half in CASH :1orglaugh:1orglaugh wow... I would hate to work at a car dealership

BigDeanEvans 04-26-2010 03:44 PM

haha yeah man i feel you.

I loaned a guy some money and took his car as collateral. He didnt pay me back so i kept his car and i was trying to sell it for the past 3 months. I got same bullshit service calls and cheap skates.

I got so sick of it i ended up just giving the car to my niece

fatfoo 04-26-2010 03:57 PM

Selling goods is difficult. I think selling services might be easier.

IllTestYourGirls 04-26-2010 04:24 PM

Im trying to buy a car right now, and dealing with people who think their car is worth more than it is, is a huge pain in the ass. Fuck Kelly Blue Book its a buyers market.

woj 04-26-2010 04:25 PM

What are you selling? for how much?

GTS Mark 04-26-2010 04:28 PM

Yeah I hear u on that one tons of bullshitters!

EscortBiz 04-26-2010 04:29 PM

buyers have been told that anyone selling anything right now is desperate, so they sit with their crackhead girl or wife and they agree that its ok to offer a guy 5 dollars for a 50k car

idiots

JA$ON 04-26-2010 04:30 PM

1. Sign lease documents
2. Make lease payments
3. Hand over key at end of lease
4. Smile and repeat

2c

I had the same thing several years ago when I listed a car... This guy showed up and told me he'd pay me x amount "cash money right now"...

How the hell did he think I'd accept payment?

Barefootsies 04-26-2010 05:37 PM

Agreed.

However, the alternative is trading it in at a dealership and having them offer you like $500.00. Essentially the value of your Pioneer deck in the vehicle.

:disgust

Ya selling a car is a nightmare. Ive sold a few cars and it never gets easier. Ya the people calling to sell ad space are the MOST annoying. Then the people offering 6k CASH for a 12k car. I did buy my current car from carmax and im planning on trading the car in to them when I get something new. I know ill take a huge hit but its better than trying to sell the car. Selling a car is a pain in the A

personally i would never buy a car private party unless it was from someone I know. to many people are sneaky about stuff and to hard to trust. when i was looking before for a car I found someone local who told me the car had all these options, but I knew just looking at it he was full of shit then bad mouthed me about wasting his time

Supz 04-26-2010 07:11 PM

i just sold my car on ebay with no issues.

Right now I have 3 cars and trying to get rid of one, if not two of them.

I'm trying to sell my 2009 Audi A4 for $29,500. I took it to the dealer and they will offer me $28k ish, but I have some people local that are interested in the car that I'm hoping will bite. The problem with the dealer is they want me to buy another car, so they are doing whatever they can to get me in and had one dealership offer me $30k for the car if I traded it in before the end of the month, but the problem comes with car #2...

The other car is a 06 BMW 750Li. I LOVE this car and wanted one for the longest time and bought one last year. Has almost every option and it turns heads and gets a lot of complements (and a lot of people that think im a drug dealer) :1orglaugh

With the BMW the trade in value is a lot less than private party, so I would loose about $4k trading it in, but Ive been seeing people sell theirs with similar or less options for $36k to $39k. Im asking $36k for mine.

Both cars have low miles and taken really great care of. I dont have any type of commute so most miles are on the highway or going to the mall/stores.

Anyway, the reason I'm getting rid of them 1st because I have 3 cars (the 3rd is a 05 Tahoe Z71) and really only need 1 good car and could even get a "beater" to save money. As well, I have someone who would sell me their 08 Lexus LS460 L for a GREAT deal. Hes just trying to get rid of the car because he wants to buy a Bentley.
