How clean is your home?

Anyone seen this UK show? I don't think it airs anymore, but all the episodes are on youtube. It's profoundly disturbing how some people live. In most cases they haven't cleaned their place for years. :helpme

When you don't feel like cleaning your place, watch some of these videos. Guaranteed to get you off your butt. :2 cents:

Dirty Dane 04-24-2010 02:35 PM

It's more common than you think. Mental illness, drug and alcohol addicts... Dead pets, even some old ill people live with their dead husband/wife until someone care.

LiveDose 04-24-2010 02:42 PM

We are selling and it is 3/4 empty now as we put all of our big items in storage pods to stage it. Sold in 5 days.

bobby666 04-24-2010 02:55 PM

thing is these people are typically so fucking poor (their extended family included) that the only way to get real help is exploiting yourself on tv so they'll do it for free. same thing goes with the intervention show.

DWB 04-24-2010 04:28 PM

I've had dead Thai hookers in my closets for years.

fatfoo 04-24-2010 04:54 PM

How clean is your body?

Your body shows signs of your eating habits for months or years - just by looking at how fat you are. Cleanse your body from fat now!

TeenCat 04-24-2010 04:56 PM

i am rich in my country, i do not care what some fucker thinks

L-Pink 04-24-2010 05:02 PM

I'm obsessively clean plus I have a maid come twice a month for 5 hours.

.

st0ned 04-24-2010 05:05 PM

Looks like the show Hoarders. I watch it from time to time when nothing else is on. I am not as clean as I use to be since becoming a webmaster, but I cannot understand how these people live in absolute filth.

Yes. I'm not sure what's most sad: People living like this... or the people exploiting, entertained and amused by others misery.

Spunky 04-24-2010 07:00 PM

Damn, that is disgusting.those people have serious problems

D Ghost 04-24-2010 07:09 PM

Skip to 1:44 in the 3rd video (Flies Everywhere one) and check out the dude's hair in the white shirt. Yes.

Cyber Fucker 04-24-2010 07:19 PM

I like cleanliness and perfect order. Dirt and untidiness at my home/room irritate me as fuck...

Those dirty homes make me want to vomit. I wish I could visit their homes, just to vomit inside.

camgirlshide 04-25-2010 05:30 PM

how could there be that many people living in houses that look that bad.

They send the crew in first to dirty it up right?

Amputate Your Head 04-25-2010 05:42 PM

Maids exist for a reason.
Hire one and your house will miraculously stay clean.

:2 cents:

Konkan 04-25-2010 06:58 PM

Who lives in that shitholes anyway?

Danny B 04-25-2010 10:29 PM

i like clean, got a maid come in once a week but I don't let shit pile up the rest of the week. Damn those videos are nasty.

Their homes must smell like vomit, so they probably wouldn't mind if you did.

$5 submissions 04-26-2010 04:46 AM

Hoarding complex, maybe? The problem is how do you find a defining line between just being a slob and having a mental condition?

blonda80 04-26-2010 05:47 AM

that is ugly

Alex_Manifest_Men 04-26-2010 06:09 AM

Soap is cheap. No excuse for someone living in filth. Unless they are nutters then off to the bin with 'em.

They aren't that poor. Most of them own their homes and have jobs. Shit, most of them blame their laziness and dirty-ass houses on the fact that they're too busy working or doing other activities. There may be people that live in dirty poverty, but most of the people on this show just live in shitholes because they're lazy.

So no, it's not sad. They aren't being exploited. They're getting a fucking handout because they're too lazy to clean up their own shit (literally in a lot of cases) and it makes for good television.

Shouldn't need a maid.

General cleaning and tidying up keeps a house in check. Maids are for lazy people who if it wasn't for a maid, would probably live in a shithole like the ones above... :2 cents:

I disagree. Just the opposite is true. Maids are for people that are too busy to clean for themselves. I had maids for years. Now I have more time, and so I do the cleaning myself.

For people who simply don't have the time (because of work or whatever), then yes maids can be the answer.

In the context of this thread though, with the vids posted, it's not maids those people need. It's probably people who spend all day in the house with loads of time to do the cleaning up, but refuse and choose to live in such a state.

Some people on that show are proud of the mess they live in. They don't deserve any help. Cleaning the house for them probably doesn't change them one bit. Go back in a few months, and the place will start looking like the way it did before. Like a garbage dump !!!

Niktamer 04-26-2010 09:03 AM

damn !!

glad i have a maid 2x a week :)

its cheap in mexico :)

Well I have only seen a few of the hoarders show but seeing them snap when 3 month old yogurt is being thrown away or some other useless garbage they just "need" to have, that just screams mental health issues to me.

Indeed! The ladies go back only a couple of weeks later to see how clean the homes are. I'm sure if they went back two months later, most places would look like a dump again.

The episode we watched a couple of weeks back, was a woman from here (Glasgow) and they didn't even go back to her place after it because of her attitude. It stank almost as much as her place did before they cleaned it.

She didn't like it when they showed her around after they cleaned it, saying she would "never find anything". :disgust

So they said screw you, we won't be back. And they didn't...

Elli 04-26-2010 02:06 PM

hah that's a great show. I love when they take the bacteria samples from the kitchen counter to see what's growing. And the return visit to see if the people are able to keep the place clean is priceless. Some people just are NOT able to help themselves.

CaptainHowdy 04-26-2010 05:14 PM

Mine is clean but disorganized...

Agreed.

I have seen people I know go into something like this. My old roommate from years ago who, once moving out, his own place was one of the most filthy places I have ever seen.

It's funny because when I lived with him, he was a super anal neat freak. Then turned into a huge fucking pig and his house was absolutely filth.
