I actually kind of feel sorry for her. She had a career as a child actress and it looked like she was going to make the transition to adult star, but she didn't have the guidance or support of the family to do it. So many of those kids grow up and suddenly they realize how famous they are and how much money they have in the bank and they go crazy. Their parents do nothing be enable them and keep their mouths shut because without their kid they have no career either. The next thing you know the kid is out of control, broke, has a terrible reputation and Hollywood has moved on.
She could still salvage herself. She could go to rehab then pick a couple of good independent movie roles to show she can still act and resurrect herself, but at this point it doesn't look like that is going to happen.Comment

I won't argue for a second that she isn't a spoiled, arrogant narcissist. However, people typically aren't born that way. She spent her entire life as a star (for the most part) where people are kissing her ass every day and telling her how amazing and great she is and she has had no parental supervision to help keep her grounded. It looks like there has never been someone in her life that will tell her no. So she has grown up entitled and because of that feels like she deserves anything and everything she wants and that people should just give it to her because she is pretty and famous.
Now reality is starting hit her in the face. She is having to deal with the reality of the world. Most of us learn that the everyone in the world doesn't love us and we aren't entitled to everything when we are 10 years old. Lindsay is learning it when she is in her mid 20's during a time when it seems she may have a drinking and/or drug problem on top of it.
It isn't like I spend any real time of my life worrying about her. I just look at someone like her who clearly has talent and I think it is kind of sad that, because of the people who are around her and have basically leeched off of her for her entire life, she has learned very few actual interpersonal skills and now when life suddenly is giving her a challenge she has learned no real way of dealing with it. Add in that her every move is documented in magazines and on blogs and TV shows and it would make it that much more of a fucked up situation. If photographers followed any of us 24/7 and any little thing we did became news it might cause any average person to have a complex.Comment

Ever notice how bad they hate the paparazzi after they make it but they will do anything if anyone with a camera would even look at them before they start out?
For you to try and think they should be given the same consideration as a common person trying to mind their own business makes you a big sucker! But hey go pay to see their movies and stand in long lines to get their autographs - knock yourself out!

I agree with most your facts. But she is still an adult, & once your an adult, you cant blame your parents or your upbringing for your decisions. I'm not clear she is learning anything from adversity in her life experiences. She is blowing off a civil case depo, doesn't give a shit about showing up to movie sets.
I'm not sure what talent you see because i see no breadth in her previous roles, just a bunch of teen queen crapola. Everything she has touched as an adult has been disaster.
If anything, i think she is deliberately living life as a train wreck because it keeps her in the press, & like kate gosselin, all that matters is staying in the press. Spears & Hilton showed us the paps LOVE a trainwreck, & she appears to be wrecking as hard as she can & enjoying it.

Sure thing. Now that she is an adult she has to take responsibility for herself. At some point you have to step up and handle your own business. You make a great point about her blowing off the court case she has and this isn't the first time she has done shady stuff. The ball is in her court and maybe she thinks that since she is still followed everywhere she goes that everything is fine. Eventually though, if she wants to have a career, she will have to get a grip on herself, get herself clean and do something about it or she will just crash, burn and at some point fade away.
I guess why I feel sorry for her is that it looks like her family basically used her to make a bunch of money when she was young and they were more interested in her being a star and bringing in the cash than they were about actually raising a kid and helping to give her the tools it takes to actually live a somewhat normal adult life. Now she is learning that the world isn't perfect and she can't do whatever she wants and things are crashing down around her and I would bet if she had a little better upbringing that much of it could be avoided.Comment

Maybe you are right. I do know though that Francis Bean has a pretty level headed grandma who has sued constantly to get her away from Courtney. Maybe her grandma being involved had something to do with it, maybe Francis is just a different type of person. I guess with anyone we really don't know.
I have a friend who had a pretty fucked up childhood and he is good, responsible adult who is married, has kids and a good job and is great guy. I also know someone else who was so sheltered in her childhood that she never learned any sense of responsibility and even now when she is in her mid 30's she has issues and won't take responsibility for her own actions.
In the end, as you say, when you become an adult at some point you have to step up. At this point Lindsay hasn't. Just like that other girl I know she seems to refuse to take responsibility for herself. I think how they were raised has a lot to do with it, but a lot of it is just them not wanting to have to face being an adult and wanting to stay and kid and get their way. It is all still kind of sad to me. I don't dwell on it, I have my own life to live, but when I hear about people like that it does make me feel sorry for them.Comment

One thing I would have to disagree about is how big of a pornstar she would be. If she got some good makeup and looked good her first movie might be the biggest selling porn movie of all time.
