Spider Dilema !!! HELP !!!

OK I am workign on my computer, sipping tea... when I stretch back in my chair... I have a white ceiling (pretty standard) as I open my eye's mid stretch my perifial vision picks up something black...

My eyes move away from it, but as it registers in my brain dark back to confirm it's a SPIDER ! Now we dont have any killer spiders in the UK, but this thing is BIG, well big to me anyways !

Now I dont like killing anything... well with the exception of one or two people on GFY I would like to kill lol :winkwink:

So my dilema is this ? Do I Kill it ? Or do I leave it and open it doesnt climb in my mouth at night and lay it's spider spawn into my stomache ? I keep checkign to see if it's done a runner... but it's definetly there ??? :helpme

digitaldivas 04-23-2010 05:43 PM

simply pick it up in some paper and just put him or her outside :2 cents:

It's just in a really hard place to get to... if I knock it and falls on my foot or something I will freak out like a SPAZ ! If it falls and ends up somewhere hidden I wont get asleep all night ! Ahhhhhhhhh !

I came home one day to this:

Luckily my GF took care of it with half a can of insect spray and a broom handle :D

Jon Oso 04-23-2010 05:48 PM

Kill it. I found this a wolf spider under my couch not once but twice... those things are like small tarantulas.

Freaked the shit out of me. Exterminator said they hurt when they bite you, but they're not deadly.

Kill it until it's dead, kill it.

Michael O 04-23-2010 05:50 PM

Oh and the coming home and the GF saying "Michael there is a snake in the house" is a whole different story

TrashyContent 04-23-2010 05:50 PM

I would of sold the house and moved ! That is bigger than the one I have here... as I said by UK standards, and my scardy cat standards plenty big enough !

I think I have a plan to get it out, wish I had a video camera to capture this moment... it will either work really well or not !

digitaldivas 04-23-2010 05:55 PM

The one in the picture looks like a huntsman spider. ...I have a bit of a fetish for the 8 legged bastards.

TrashyContent 04-23-2010 05:55 PM

It's Gone... And Alive Still !

OK I kinda got the window open, used this thing for cleaning dust (like a modern day feather duster but extendable !) kinda pushed it against the spider, it clung on as I launched it out the window (the spider not the whole thing !) Several bashes on the winder seal to make sure it was gone !

I double cheked the feather duster, would of shat myself if it jumped out !

Man I want to live in America, would love to spend a year in Vegas... but with all these spiders, snakes and scorpios I dont think it's a good idea ! Hey how comes all bad and dangerous things begin with "S" ??? Hey my names Steve !

CaptainHowdy 04-23-2010 06:04 PM

Kill the lil' bastard...

I have a wolf spider problem every year. Those suckers are big and fast.

I finally had someone spray last year and it seemed to do the trick. I havent seen to many yet this year.

La_Sexorcist 04-23-2010 06:21 PM

Oh man sick, especially if it was big. I personally wouldn't be able to relax until I knew it was out of the house. I don't think I would have it in my to capture it first because I feel like I can't breathe around spiders, AHHHH! :(

I thought it was a joke at first. Like someone put one of those rubber spiders on my floor. Then it moved towards me and all 6'5" 280lbs of me jumped back like it was pointing a gun at me or something.

Freaked the shit outta me.

We get black widows around the outside corners of the house and retainer walls.. I just toss a little bit of bleach on them and it eats them away.

But I tried to get a picture of one, got a bit to close and it ran at me across its web at super speeds, me backing up screaming like a little girl, dropped the camera.. it was awesome!

raven1083 04-23-2010 06:51 PM

such a big spider you need some insect killer!!

Damn nasty lil fuckers

Angry Jew Cat - Banned for Life 04-23-2010 07:33 PM

Found a western black widow living down in our laundry room the other day. She got relocated right quick. That's one big spidey, not sure what type though.

fatfoo 04-23-2010 07:37 PM

If a question crosses your mind "to kill or not to kill", you choose "not to kill." You do not need to slaughter spiders in blood.

No blood, they're full of green/yellow/white goo. If the question crosses your mind "can that spider kill a horse? And should it be alive in the same yard my kids are in?" and you think twice about killing the spider... you probably should seek help and not have kids.

I was going to post "IBObligatoryHUGESpiderPic" but someone already beat me to it.

You should live here in Australia. Not only will many spiders bit you with enough venom to kill you, make you sick for weeks or rot your flesh, we have non venemous ones the size of bread & butter plates!

I was about to post the same thing. Seriously I've seen things that size and ran around screaming "Kill it, kill it"

yes you aussies are crazy for lving ther. Dealiest spider 9 of the 10 deadliest snakes, deadly jellyfish, great whites, giant crocs hell even the platypus is venomous. WTF?

Simon 04-24-2010 05:32 AM

How about scorpions?

We get spiders of several kinds down here in the Florida Keys, and we also get 3 or 4 kinds of scorpions (plus some rattlesnakes and other vipers, and now pythons are moving here too). The worst encounter I've had so far was back in 1998 when I turned in my desk chair and saw a scorpion on the window drape right behind my head. It was maybe a foot and a half from my face when I turned around. The thing that made it a little scary, aside from thinking it might be able to jump on my face (and that it might want to), was that scorpion mothers carry their young on their back, and this little mother's back was covered with baby scorpions. So I definitely didn't want to try to catch it and wind up with them all scurrying away and hiding all over the house.

(I haven't made 30 posts yet so I can't post a pic but here's what one looks like with their babies ... industryinc dot com/stuff/scorpion-with-babies.jpg )

Down here we always turn our shoes over and bang them against things to shake out anything that may be sleeping in there, and we're careful about reaching into places we can't see. But aside from that (and the hurricanes and storm surges) it's paradise!

:)
