Umm...no.

I used it for my blog and such, didn't do so hot. Depends on what you are selling I guess.

alias 04-23-2010 03:24 PM

Just spam it, fuck paying. Put in the work.

BradM 04-23-2010 03:26 PM

It converts terrible on anything I have tried even FREE services like "workrant" style sites

Same. no love on the facebook ads for my mainstream project, either.

Faceook & social users are conditioned to avoid ads, there have been studies done.

Thats correct...even facebooks official overview statement about 3 months ago had them stating that thier advertising program wasnt working and they intended to look at new ideas and ways to address the problem long term.

I think that is when they wanted to charge every user $3.00 a month or something. :Oh crap

Awww no, don't do that, someone will create a group called "FUCK NO WE WON'T PAY $3 A MONTH FOR FACEBOOK" and 3 million people will "like" it... it's like any other worthy cause, clicking actually makes a real difference! :winkwink: :Oh crap

(Then 50 others will create groups along the lines of "join to find out how to keep facebook free" along with instructions to invite your friends then complete a short survey to find out how........)

I've broken even on FB Ads, but with all the hassle trying to create an ad that actually gets approved, it isn't even worth the effort.

Argos88 04-23-2010 08:21 PM

good luck trying to convert teen traffic with no credit cards...

I think a lot will change over the next few yrs as these huge social network type sites try to figure a way to make $$$$.... it seems thier orginal plan of showing advertising to the masses failed.

I also see twitter is now looking for a revenue model and has or is starting to place ads....guess they too will soon find that the average surfer is now a lot smarter than ever and they will have to come up with a different way to capture those $$$$ once this experiment fails...(in my view)

SO true, but if 10% stay and pay, they will still make more then their advertising does.

I think media companies prefer masses of users in the hope of finding the golden egg instead of doing what would simply be instant profits such as your example.
