"Your article in the Daily Princetonian today was reprehensible. I cannot believe you are actually trying justify your corporate smut peddling in the pages of a college newspaper. Pornography is poison, addictive, and destructive of families across America. To say otherwise is disingenuous. I don?t know how you sleep at night."

It's taken me 9 years in this industry, to get my first personal hate email.

Suggestions on how to respond?

don't dignify it with a response, that will piss them off the most :)

There's no need to respond. Let him hate everything and continue to live your life. This is a pretty insignificant person.

Add to that, the girls should all have tall black boots on, with all the men under them and the boots pushing down on them... put the power structure forward, this guy hates strong women - it has nothing to do with porn.

Two choices

Ignore it - they want attention.

Or

Send them a 1 month pass to the topbucks sites. Log the use of the pass. In a months time do another article about how hypocritical people are that they will send you hate mail but happily visit your sites for 9 hours a day :)

Simply ignore it .......to reply shows the writer they have connected with you and you have listened to thier views thus leading to more communication from them and the circle of hate will begin.....it doesnt take much to set those type of firecrackers off.

More words should be said about this. There are different types of pornography. There is even pornography with clothed females? What? This means everything can be labeled pornography. Extreme hardcore porn vs softcore porn or women in bikinis. These are all different things. Yes, pornography can be poison. You see, it really does depend on the details. Sometimes people even make extreme violent porn. Any attractive woman showing a lot of skin can be labeled pornography. It does indeed need more explanations about this. Maybe you should explain what exactly you are doing to prove your point in a persuasive way. Give details. What you are not doing (violence, etc.) is also important.

I'm thinking the only responsible reply would be goatse. :)

Ignore it, people that write shit like that feed off the response, and there is nothing you can say to them to think differently than they already do. Lack of response usually leads them to believe you were unaffected by it, which is exactly how you should treat it.

I got a death threat via home phone once. I was alot younger then and I responded something to the effect of "I'd like to see you come here and try it." Then I looked up the # from the caller ID and saw he was only about a 3 hr drive away. Oops.

I consider myself lucky nothing else ever came of it. In hindsight "Wrong number" probably would have seen the best response.

The world is filled with nutjobs. Best to ignore it when you can. Responding only feeds the trolls.
