It is amazing how millionaires can go bankrupt. Of course, money is a volatile thing. One day you got $1,000,000, next day you are broke.

Because they were Obama's biggest donors. And the Whitehouse is FULL of ex Goldman employees and always has been. Slap on the wrist and business as usual.

The UK's Financial Services Authority (FSA) announced a formal enforcement investigation into the bank regarding recent fraud allegations.

easier to win civil first

easier to win criminal after a win in civil

Bingo...burden of proof in civil is far lower. No need for a unanimous vote on the jury, no need for "beyond a reasonable doubt"

This is actually true, there's a whole lot of "former" Wall Street "people" in the White house.

Before it was the Cheney wild bunch, now it's the Wall Street "we're fucking others in the ass for living" brotherhood.

Nothings changes with the change in government... the same ol' corporate cronies are running the good old USA.

The most that will happen is they will pay out some cash..... it will probably be chicken feed compared to the profits they have made screwing everyone else.

Good point, Jay. Normally, it's the other way around--criminal case goes first since it uses a higher standard of proof (beyond a reasonable doubt) versus civil cases (preponderance of the evidence). The civil laywers just recycle the evidence found during criminal proceedings. Cheaper to do it this way.

I guess the timing might be political. Not sure.
