iPad vs. WePad Tablet
When Apple unveiled to the world its iPad, we all thought that they were mad, but strong early sales have proved many of us wrong. Steve Jobs said that 2010 will be the year of the tablet, and the announcement from a number of PC makers offering their own incarnation of a slate device proves that Jobs knows what he is talking about. It is no secret that all tablets released now will be compared to the Apple iPad; this is the case with WePad. The launch of this device could cause a headache for Apple and its iPad in Germany as this 11.6-inch device will allow publishers to have greater control of the content. The iPad offers no Flash Player support, but runs on iPhone OS ? so has complete access to iTunes App Store. The WePad offers full Adobe Flash Player Support and runs on the fast and smooth Linux OS and will utilize Android apps. Apple wins in the app department, but cannot help but think that the custom Linux OS will perform better than iPhone OS. Looking at some of the main specs of both tablet devices I cannot help but think that the WePad wins out again 1,66GHz processor compared to Apple?s 1GHZ, although the iPad offers greater storage capacity. The battle between these two looks as though it will go back-and-fourth, but let us not forget that Apple is to offer an update to the iPad operating system in June, to iPhone OS 4.0. We are not certain if the WePad has what it takes to take on the might of Apple and its iPad device, only time will tell. |
iPod killer. iPhone killer. iPad killer. See a theme here? Stil waiting on something that is....

HP will be lucky to sell 1 slate to every 10 ipads sold by apple. The first hands on review of the slate says it is very slow as it is running windows 7 (Intel Atom processor and 1GB RAM) and there overall opinion was "meh." |
Making a better product is one thing, convincing the public to buy it is another.
|
This will NOT let you access the Android market. Only "with Google" devices allow you to do that. The Archos 5 had a workaround hack you could use but you could only access the non protected apps, which are basically crap. Google is saving the real deal for their own tablet, presumably will be made by HTC but wouldnt be out till next year at least. So this WePad (idiotic name) will be an epic fail unless you like looking at shiny widgets on a big screen. Specs alone do not sell products.

Sounds good to me. I'm gettin one.

Do you not realize how stupid that sounds? "I will inconvenience myself and go to another machine completely because this *awesome* new device Apple convinced me to buy can't do it" |

My penis is bigger. No its not. Yes it is.
Same shit, different day around here. |
What is so hard to beat is the customer service aspect also. My iPhone broke yesterday. I had a new one in the hour. 2 hours later I have phone fully restored with photos contacts etc. iPad is about the same thing. Well if it was in stock but anyways you can get it fixed or replaced pretty easily once the distribution channel goes normal. Try that with the other tablets.
The flash thing sucks and was very short sighted. But they are obviously out front and name one other tablet you would buy right this second that you can buy right this second? |

Wepad's advantages could fall on its use of the Android platform as its platform of choice. This comes as a huge advantage considering Android's development/growth ability; Android promises much indeed in the near future while having delivered to a satisfactory degree at the moment. It's second advantage could also lie in its support for flash in its browser; an option Apple chose to forgo.

I know of NOBODY who owns a Zune...but many that own an iPod. |

I know many people who own many different types. I happen to have a few different brands myself and the one I use the most is my Sansa because it has the built in FM tuner and it locks in on stations easily. I am not a music fanatic, so my life doesn't revolve around self-built playlists, but I do like having music handy. |
iPad
WePad what's next? OurPad? TheyPad? assholes |

Who the fuck cares what device someone wants to use to access the internet/cut movies/do photoshop? Really? How does it affect anyone else? Tards. |

Apple is all marketing... Very smart word of mouth marketing that convinces the masses. Case in point the latest iphone 4g being left somewhere by `mistake`
|
unlike 90% of the people that post here, most people are clueless and frustrated but such things as "customizable this & that" and extra ports for whatever. This is where the apple will kill anything else, it's simple to run, and harder to fuck it up. for this reason apple will beat anything out there, not on specs, but where it counts, sales.
|
I like WePad better than the iPad because it has bigger and better display, it has got a webcam (while iPad hasn't), it has flash/adobe air that supports your browsing needs, it has a multitasking capability, and it has all what iPad can offer.
|
I am diggin the HP slate or whatever... probably wont get it though. I like my netbook, about the same size and it has....... A FUCKING KEYBOARD. This lets me type quickly lol instead of touching on screen.
Same reason I got an android phone with a real keyboard instead of iphone because iphone doesnt have a real keyboard. |
No iPad killer? AHAHAH! That POS 'tablet' was killed YEARS before it was even a twitch in Jobs' shiny boner.
|
The Courier will never ship. Here’s why... Microsoft will never go head on with Apple in the Consumer tablet market with a product that doesn’t play movies. It’s viewable size is split in half by “the pocket It won’t ship in it’s current form. I still want one, cause I’m a creative, but I represent a very small slice of the whole pie.
