how long to get listed on the hun?

So, I just sent off a gallary to the hun.

Assuming its accepted, about how far is he behind in placing? Will I get any warning that its up or will I just see a hit onslaught???

Fletch XXX 12-28-2002 01:59 PM

6 months.

funkmaster 12-28-2002 02:01 PM

... it will take about 2 days, you will get 150 signups on average and your bandwith bill will be more than 15k US ...

multisexsite 12-28-2002 02:02 PM

haha, its 3 days for me. I dont pay bandwidth, and I get 2 signups MAX. It converted at 1:1000 for me last time and that same gallery converted 1:100 with other TGP's traffic.

poolie 12-28-2002 02:04 PM

submitted last monday, got accepted on thursday and listed at wednesday.

if that helps...

strainer 12-28-2002 02:08 PM

I'm not too worried about the bandwidth, even though there are about 5 meg of movies in the galleries. At .25 a gig, I figure I can afford an experiment to see if it converts or not.

I was figuring more like 50,000 hits or so though, so at 1:2000 that would work out to 25 signups. But I don't have any baseline to compare to.

It must make money for some people or he wouldn't get galleries?

hahmike 12-28-2002 02:25 PM

yes but some people have good galleries + other people don't.

some promote a good / their own site + others don't.

funkmaster 12-28-2002 02:27 PM

" I was figuring more like 50,000 hits or so though, so at 1:2000 that would work out to 25 signups. But I don't have any baseline to compare to. "

... I guess you are missing something here. 50k traffic to gallery -> 2% clickout -> 1000 clicks to sponsor.

but hell ya, I heared some guys make $1000 profit of just ONE listing ...

last week i got 237.407 hits, 13754 clicks on my banner (524 qualifyed) and 8 signups = 8*$35 = One Billion $$$$

Not sure I am following you. According to the hun, you can get 80,000 to 200,000 people to load your gallery before it falls off the active list.

If I lower that to 50,000 people, and it converts at 1:2000 (no sponser, its my content) than I would get 25 signups and make $500 clear, even if 100% of those signups don't rebill.

But then, at worst case 5 megs times 50,000 viewers, I am looking at a 250 gig bandwidth bill, which costs me around $62.

Course, thats all speculation. For all I know I'll get 3 signups and 250,000 hotlinkers instead. :eek2

Thats right, but I was figuring that 1 out of 2,000 people that look at the gallery will eventually signup. Way too optimistic, you think?

funkmaster 12-28-2002 02:49 PM

"unless your gallery is your sign up page, i dont follow your logic?"

... I donīt get it either, but I predict he will make at least 150 signups ... I have confidence in this guy !!

strainer are you retard?

JackFoley 12-28-2002 02:54 PM

How fast you get listed also depends on your content/gallery, if he likes it and it's not the "same old crap" you'll probably get listed quicker.

I've made $1000 from one listing (promoting Sexkey with content that, at the time, hadn't been around much) but my last gallery only made around $30 (different sponsor and content).

Ha Ha. :glugglug Dont know if I am being teased here or you are serious, but obviously I don't know what the fuck I am doing. I've only had the paysite up a month - I just figure I'd try a gallary at the hun and see what happens. I just found out what a gallery was 2 weeks ago!

Assuming he accepts the gallery, I guess I'll learn from there. Right now I don't have any kind of baseline so I don't have any idea what I'll get. I only need about 3 signups to pay for the experiment though so I figure to learn from there...

Imagine 2% clicking your banner/textlink. That's pretty normal. With 100k hits, that's 2000 clickthroughs. 1/500 is probably the best you'll do, but even 1/4000 is not that strange. So, that's between 4 and 0 signups.

Ofcourse, what could also happen:
200k hits (could happen)
10% clicks (yes, it happens sometimes. more with video's than with pics)
1/100 signup ratio (yes, it happens sometimes. especially with really fresh sites)
=
200 signups

Way too optimistic - the hun gives you a lot of traffic, but convertion from that site suck. why should thet pay for it whan they can go back to the hun and get 300+ other free movies.

I would go with a place like www.themoviepost.com or www.screwedupmovies.com - those surfers convert niiiccee :thumbsup

Is this the site you are talking about?

http://www.fareastmedia.com/

Do you have enough invisible text at the bottom of that page? Who would push this?

I sure wouldnt.

Thanks, I'll try those sites. I heard that about the hun, too, but I figured it made sense to try it once to see what the conversion is.

Besides, mine is a niche site - you can't get the content anywhere else. Probably I'll get a shitload less surfers, but I am betting those that view the gallery will convert well. Guess I'll find out.

punkworld is right, 0-4 signups is what you will probably get ... sad, but true !

p1mpdogg 12-28-2002 03:03 PM

it takes about 2-4 days after i get approved to get listed.. he has listed 3 of my galleries in a row.. girlfucksguy.com is the shiznit..

Chimper 12-28-2002 03:04 PM

Takes 3 weeks, lots of bandwidth as well.

Yeah, there is a bunch of invisible text on the warning page (for SE) but if you are coming in from the hun, or any affiliate program for that matter, you skip the warning page, so I don't think that hurts the site.

natas 12-28-2002 03:06 PM

i got 9 sign ups with my hun listing on the 26th :thumbsup

Almost forgot: I *hope* you are on a dedicated box and have a lot of bandwidth available. With 5 megs of movies, you could be pulling about 10mbps.

It doesn't help, either - search engines are smarter than that now. That trick is soooo 1995.

Libertine 12-28-2002 03:10 PM

I just took a look at your site and... well, I see several rather large problems with it. If you get on icq, I'll give you some advice.
My icq:

I'm surprised you haven't being banned/penalised already by Google for your inviso text, it's probably a matter of when not if though imho. :2 cents:

Actually, if you put the colors in an external css file, some se's will still fall for it. However, the way he did it - font color="#FFFFFF" - will get you banned from most search engines, and will severely lower your ranking in the others.

Libertine 12-28-2002 03:25 PM

Took another look at the site, and it will probably get you about 10 signups, and less bandwidth burning. That kind of content converts better than most, so there is still hope.

The site most definitely needs improvement though.

Yeah, 2 dedicated servers. I know the site needs a lot of design work, and the warning page I borrowed from a friend sucks (hidden keywords are out in the nest one), but this is a part time venture for me and I just haven't got around to everything.

For whatever reason, though, the site has been just profitable as hell so I am afraid to change the crappy design.

That's pretty optimistic:)
One day I did 30+ mbit with around 3megs of movies.
But it depends on the niche since I've also done listings with around 15mbit.

The reason is that it has exclusive niche content. A better design would help though, although keeping an amateurish feel to it is most likely a good idea.

His content seems to be pure spanking though, which gets less clicks (which convert better).
