The Iphone has so many fantastic free apps.... this one is perfect.
I love the new 3gs but now I have downloaded the yell.com app. Its fantastic. You hold the phone up and look around you, adding in the distance you want to cover & what you want to find. It brings up urls to the websites, the phone number, the name & area of the company. Click "call" & dial them. Its great to know which direction or where, what you are looking for is by holding the phone up and scanning your area.
The voice activation is fantastic apart from when you are saying turn music off and it nearly dials someone :1orglaugh Its only happened a couple of times, but still is :error Anyway, heres to apple & the Iphone :thumbsup |
There have been android and winmo apps that do this same thing for quite some time now. Wonder if yell.com has them for other platforms.
Most app devs have wised up to the fact that there is much more out there than the iphone. |
iPhone is junk. Overpriced junk.
Mine is mounted & wired to the dash in my truck now as an ipod only. All it's really good for. :2 cents: |

I can go buy one the same as you or anyone else. I've owned three of them by the way. I have no need for 14,000 useless apps. I need a phone that makes & receives calls. No voicemail, no texting, no downloading, no bullshit. Just a goddamned phone. And it's getting hard to find them. I sit at a computer "bridge" (because it looks like something off the fucking Enterprise), for 20 hours a day 7 days a week. I do not want to walk around with a little rectangular piece of tech in my pocket that continues to connect me to that shit after I've walked away. I feel people that do, are "unlucky" because they are unable to unplug even for an hour or two. If I want to stay connected when I go out.... it takes 4 seconds to unjack my laptop, stuff it in a bag and go. "Unlucky".... ? Or "wise"? I feel no need to plunk down that kinda money on something just because the ones that have, have decreed it a necessity to be "cool". I'm doin' just fine here with my regular no-nonsense phone and my computers. (and as a real world comparison, I can buy 7 1TB OEM HDDs for my rackmount data cluster for what ONE iPhone costs.) :2 cents: |
really great...

We have come to that point that we can't get away for an hour just to clear our heads from our work. I always say, we live to work while so many others work to live. Pretty Crazy! Great post, you have a great point. |

I hate coming off as some kind of luddite, because I'm not.... just, in my particular situation, I NEED a few hours a day that's "unplugged" and private.... I can't live connected to the Internet 24 hours a day.... it makes me crazy. :) |
He'll Im kn my iPhone right now and google has an app where you can speak into the search engine and it will bring up the site and you can click on the number. I used it last night to make a reservation

For me its the opposite. I can spend tons more time away from my desk with the kids etc because if something urgent needs attention the right people can text / email me while I'm out and about. |

BVF, thats what I mean mate. The apps link to the calling and you can use the voice connection. It makes calls simple. Finding places, especially when you are driving or a little pissed & needing a takeaway. :thumbsup The Iphone http://www.joeydevilla.com/wordpress...s_bollocks.jpg |
gary, see if there is an app to get you more than 5 sales each month.

I have downloaded skype & am prepared to download trinian but find that I would not want to follow work that much if I was away from the PC. Besides, with o2, you get tonnes of minutes of sms. Basically, is it worth it? Do others need to be on the same system (whatsapp) to connect together? :2 cents: |
i want old NOkias back!

Why buy a ferrari when a ford gets to there. Why buy a nice watch when a 1dollar casio tells the time. :2 cents: The iphone is the bollocks with a logic in the way it works. Until you own one you would not understand. If you have only had the 3g then you can still not understand. :thumbsup |
humm, nice...
