Meeting their parents? Weird or not weird?
 

I run a small adult studio and I just interviewed a few photographers to work for me. I told one she got the job and set up a time for her first shoot with me. She calls me today, the day before a day long shoot and says she cannot work for me unless her parents meet me at a set.

I am kind of weirded out to be honest because they don't know what kind of set it is and she asked me to pretend it was just a normal photography set (not porn). But I am thinking wouldn't it have just been easier for her to NOT tell her parents in the first place? Or to just tell them I am a grown woman and you are being weird to come to my job?

She was way more enthusiastic about the position, seemed best to take instructions, and had the best schedule for availability out of any of my prospects so I really do not want to tell her its unreasonable for me to "pretend" anything (which seems weird to ask of your new boss).

What are your guys takes on this and should I tell her to figure it out or find a new job, OR work around it?

Agree with everyone else. You've got a business to run. The last thing you need is bullshit and there is nothing to compel you to lie for someone else's sake. Working with someone who would make that kind of a demand is just asking for trouble down the road.

yeah i wouldnt fuck with her...there is already too much shit that a person needs to do during the business day....dealing with someone elses crap who needs it

LOL. Her parents need to approve of the job she takes? This sounds like trouble. Just take this as the red flag it is and save yourself the hassle now. What happens if her parents do find out and she randomly has to quit the job? You would be screwed.

I called and told her what was up and she said fuck the old folks and she will be here 5 minutes early tomorrow.

Plus, if you lie about what you're shooting they could probably use it against you in court (or at least try to, and cost you a grip in legal fees). There are some shady people out there, I wouldn't be surprised if they were to record your encounter.

Yeah I'm a full disclosure kind of guy. Models know exactly what's expected of them before they show up, they know all of the possibilities and potential outcomes.

I've had girls bring escorts, which I politely tell can wait in the car or (once) in another room because girls get weird around their friends.

I would have zero objection to meeting parents IF they knew EXACTLY what their daughter was going to be doing. I would under no circumstances lie about it.

her parents want to meet a porn star. Give 'em a good show.

she couldn't or didn't want to tell truth or not tell anything to her parents so she is involving you in her scheme to lie to her parents instead - very twisted. i wouldn't trust someone like that.

i guess she has to think what she really want and face the circumstances of it and don't let others to carry the problem

Also she said she will work for you without involving her perents, it's a question of time until something could happen and twist your business.

You should define strict rules how the job should be handled.
Just to make clear, if she want to work for you, there must be 100% trust you business is going on well. I woul do so.

why are you hiring other photographers to work for you? i can only think of a handful of photographers in the adult industry who actually have other photographers working for them and they are legendary photographers in the adult biz.
