Wordpress SEO question: The h1 header text link.

Header in alot of themes in wordpress is the title of your site, linked to your home page, in h1.
This way every page on the site has this h1 title.

One way i think its good, because if you make the title your main keyword where the whole site is about, it's all good in relevancy. The post titles and text on the different pages show the 'child' content of that main word.

On the other hand, you have the same h1 text on all your pages, and all linked to your main page. Maybe google will see this as overkill and wont place your site high for the main keyword.

I need the insight of the SEO experts - does google see it as the pro i described or as the con?

Thanks for the links. Bookmarked.

Hey, I glanced over them but didn't see "all in one seo" mentioned although I'm sure it must be. Left on default this usually does pretty good, but I'm going to read the rest in these links too!

I have blogs where i changed it and blogs where i didnt, and indeed no penalties. But im wondering which one is better for SERPs. I cant compare my blogs because they all target different keywords.. but i guess it doesnt really make a difference. Just trying to find out the max possibilities at good SERPs

<h1> for site title
<h2> for post titles
<h3> for sidebar titles

make sure you nofollow your link home

Don't you run the risk of duplicate content if you compare two too similar blogs, but how else do you test these theories out without taking a hit?

I'm smelling a scam somewhere.

take care with "SEO experts" as there is no such thing. Nobody knows the google algo for sure, and they change their patterns on a daily basis.

The best you can do, to learn a bit is read Mr. Cutt's blog.

By reading and listening to his vids, all we can say is that having a H1 or H2, won't really make a big difference. It does not matter.
