KFC Double Down Sandwich (pic)

KFC came out with a new heart attack menu item, the KFC Double Down Sandwich.

"Behold, the KFC Double Down sandwich. It is, if you really want to know, two slabs of fried chicken intersliced with two pieces of bacon, two slabs of cheese, and the Colonel's "special sauce." It comes in the form of a sandwich, with the fried chicken where the bread used to be. It's sort of hilarious. It's sort of perfect. And then it'll probably make you vomit..."

It taste like a vagina, a greasy vagina:xomunch

cthulhu_waves 04-15-2010 11:06 AM

Everyone on tv is dissing it because it is unhealthy. I think I'd rather eat broiled chicken instead.

Sly 04-15-2010 11:09 AM

I think the funniest thing is the calories aren't terrible, the fat is high but it's not the worst... the sodium is pretty nasty, but I think that's to be expected from drive-through food.

flashfire 04-15-2010 11:10 AM

ah fat americans:)

romeo22 04-15-2010 11:11 AM

damn this can make your ass twice fat as normal:pimp

minddust 04-15-2010 11:12 AM

you can squeeze the thing and use the excess grease as lube

The grilled version is like 450 some odd calories.
Did you know a mcdonalds filet-o-fish is 470 calories?

will76 04-15-2010 11:25 AM

I don't understand why the fast food restaurants wont offer some healthy alternatives to their staple items. For example, instead of 80% lean ground beef (at best) offer a 98% lean ground beef burger with a slice of fat free cheese. Sure it will cost more, charge more for it. People like myself who want something healthier will pay double for it if needed.

That's why I stopped eating fast food, its all super high in saturated fat. Especially for breakfast fast food, they could use egg beaters, turkey bacon, and fat free cheese on a bagel and offer a not so bad for you item that wont taste that much different then what they are selling now but will be 100x better for you.

Yea bot look at it - at least to me it doesn't seem like it's that big. A sandwich that size shouldn't be that caloric, especially given how much calories are gone w/ no bread.

The grilled chicken one is at least under 500 cals. I may give that a try some time.

Daddy Big Nuts 04-15-2010 12:05 PM

Damn you! I've been thinking about that damn thing ALL DAY

I do, there is no money in it... Places like mcdonalds tries new healthy options all the time, in either test markets or not, but nobody buys them! People go to those places to eat the gross stuff, which is an unfortunate truth. Also high fatty foods and high salted foods make that stuff a lot more addictive than the healthy stuff does.. why do you think there is that much sodium in soda? Probably more addictive than the caffeine in it! Even those sandwiches they used to have there got axed here in canada...

It's a losing battle it seems

Doctor Feelgood 04-15-2010 12:42 PM

Grilled version looks great. It is really the white bread and sugar that kills ya. That is a perfect Atkins diet sandwich. :)

They try alternatives like salads and shit. People go to mc donalds for burgers not salads and grilled fish. They have never tried a 98% lean burger (real ground beef, can you believe it) and a slice of fat free cheese. If they offered that, I bet some people would buy it. Even if it was just 5% of the market, that is billions of dollars from people they are not making money off of now like myself because I wont buy their heart attack in the box. The people who want grease can still get it. I'm not saying replace grease, just offer a healthier burger and expand your market share.

something so simple and makes sense I don't understand why they don't do it. If they tried and no one bought it that is one thing but I don't believe they have ever tried this.

Also you have to advertise the hell out of it to let people know. If you simply put a healthy burger on the menu at a Mc Donalds and don't advertise it, ofcourse no one is going to buy it. The people already in line are there because they don't give a shit about their health and they want the grease. The people who would order it needs to know its offered for them to go to the store in the first place to buy it.

CYF 04-15-2010 03:55 PM

I'm going to try one of those this weekend.

It is an homage to the AMAZING EFFICIENCY of American agriculture, agri technology, and infrastructure. Hats off to the USA. I know they have their haters but I'm writing this from a developing country and we can definitely use that efficiency and technology.

No offense, but most health conscious people aren't as ignorant as you. If you think the fat and grease is the only thing that makes fast food fucking horrible, go eat the dog shit they serve you at Subway. I won't eat a salad at McDonald's or any place like it if I can avoid it. Either way there isn't really a market for health food at McDonald's or they sure as fuck would be trying to milk it.

The irony here is that if you were to eat nothing else except 3 to 5 of those a day
with no carbohydrate drinks you would actually lose weight like crazy.

It's called the Atkins diet.
