Well, $151k CamRoulette.com is live...

www.camroulette.com

They are gambling it on streammate

I was thinking they'd be doing something revolutionary to compete with the original especially after paying that much :disgust

Realgfs 04-15-2010 12:35 AM

Very very sad a domain still can go for such a high price without any content.

Adam X 04-15-2010 12:43 AM

are you fuckin kidding me?! biggest no-future-value-domain-buy I've seen lately...

the random chat type thing is a fad like pixel sites..

but I kinda like the way they're making you click forward to the next cam, it keeps you going...

still, the seller made out like a bandit..

other than that, good luck to the buyer, hope it goes well for you.

TeenCat 04-15-2010 01:49 AM

how can they make 151k with that site ... oh ...

I thought http://chatroulette.com/ was the one that supposedly sold for 151k. Figured it was a bogus sale anyway.

No, camroulette.com was the domain that sold for that and it was a legit sale. Obviously the domain quickly got its interest because of the surge in popularity of chatroulette.com

Klen 04-15-2010 03:52 AM

Total waste of money, chatroullete popularity now it dropping since it no longer in media and too many jerkoffs.

chatroullete.com is a most fucked up service I ever seen. the place where old perverts jerking off in a hope some little kid will see that.

It would be completely ok if chatroullete.com was a STRICTLY ADULT site with adult content warning etc. But it isn't!

BlackCrayon 04-15-2010 04:26 AM

personally i think it was a planned sale to get the domain madness people publicity. i can see one person bidding on it, but two up to that level? hmm, no. the dns has ns1.flyingcroc.com...does that mean the sextracker people bought it?

LeRoy 04-15-2010 08:31 AM

Prolly make good money though. Cams sell 24/7

ppcwiz 04-16-2010 08:52 AM

the flying croc guys bought it indeed

owner = FCI

96ukssob 04-16-2010 10:06 AM

:1orglaugh:1orglaugh $151k just tossed town the toilet.

would of been better to place $150k on black in roulette and spent $1k on some nice swim trunks and a watch... at least you would of left with something :2 cents:

ppcwiz 04-16-2010 10:16 AM

the spill-over traffic is quite valuable.........

700 visitors on average per day = some 20k per month

if traffic can stay at those levels for at least the next 1 year then it's not such a bad investment

however, you can see that chatroulette.com is already seeing a decline in visitors

http://trends.google.com/trends?q=ch...& sort=0&sa=N

http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/chatroulette.com

traffic has peaked and will only go down down down...

Au contraire! Is the point of business to do the most work you can for the money? If so, get out your spoon and start digging ditches.

FlexxAeon 04-16-2010 10:19 AM

edit...

i take that back. not a bad move now that i think of it

why waste time/money/blood/sweat/tears on a potential fad?

Why 04-16-2010 11:24 AM

Wonder how many sales the domain CamRoulette.com pushes per day currently. Anyone know?

FreeHugeMovies 04-27-2010 09:35 PM

I just clicked next and left after waiting 2 mins. What kind of idiot buys a domain for 151k and comes up with this?

mainly from the type in traffic, from people who mistakenly thought that camroulette was chatroulette. After all, cam roulette is a better name since the focus is on webcams. Not like there is a lot of chatting on chat roulette.

I did some research on it and surprisenly saw a lot of people saying "did you check out cam roulette i was on there last night" etc....

I would have taken it at the 10K opening bid price he had on it, which he didn't get a bid till the last day. No idea someone would have spent as much as they did though.

That site should simply be a clone of chatroulette since that is what people are going there looking for, but offer an "adult only" section for a small verification fee or monthly fee and keep the nudity in that section, then randomly throw in some chathost cams from a cam site... luring them over.... golden.
