Dual Monitor techie question ??
Hey gang !
Quick techie question here ... I am running a RADEON 8500 vid card with dual heads, and I am running ULTRAMON software ... Somebody told me that running ULTRAMON it would be possible for me to drag my ICQ contact list over to my secondary monitor, but I have not been able to thus far ... anybody KNOW how to go about it ?? I have figured out how to use 2 different desktop wallpapers, and how to stretch one image across both desktops http://www.paulspics.com/misc/screencap.jpg but have not found out yet how to move my ICQ contact list to the secondary desktop ... any help would be appreciated :thumbsup |
You've ticked the 'Extend my desktop' box in Settings.
You've ticked the 'Allow child window spanning' box |
Kat please re-read the post ... I do not need affirmation to what I have already done :eek7 ... I am looking for advice on how to locate my ICQ contact list on the secondary (right) monitor (which is a 21" set to 1152x864 ... thus the difference in size)
LOL |
chap - you're windows size doesn't care what res you've set the monitors at - the software that's controlling you're perversion does.
I've had dual monitor messing around for about 2 weeks now and 'm just running through the basics |

I just recently got this ULTRAMON trial upon recommendation from a friend with dual monitors, but have not been able to figure out how to move over my ICQ ... when I do, it wants to snap it full height to the right side of the primary monitor ... I know it CAN be done ... I have seen screen shots here where the ICQ was on the secondary monitor :arcadefre |
just switch the monitors. Then your icq will be on the other side:thumbsup

only problem with that is I like to watch movies fullscreen on the 19" perfectly flat (better picture - it is a pro monitor), and fullscreen will only play on the primary monitor ... any other suggestions ?? |

ok ... here is an update ... Kat you might be interested in this, as I 'm sure maybe a couple others will be ...
I have managed to get my ICQ in the right screen, it's kinda messed up how I did it .. but it works !!! I swapped monitors at the back of the computer, making my right monitor primary, and my left monitor (the better of the two) is secondary ... but now my ICQ is on the right, and most programs if you open them, and then drag them over to the left, and then close them, will open on the left each time thereafter until you drag the screen physically to the right again ... http://www.paysitedesign.com/screencap2.jpg The only sacrifice I had to make in doing so, is when I go FULLSCREEN with a movie, it opens on the right monitor, when I'd really like it to be on the left (since it is a 19" pro series perfectly flat CRT ... ) but my right screen is a 21" Hewlett Packard ... not a bad monitor at all, and a very good picture ... just not 100% as crisp as the digital CRT flatscreen .... Oh well - can't win 'em all I guess! :winkwink: |
I didn't seem to have the problem you're having, Hungryman....I'm using a Matrox dual head card....and I was able to slide things anywhere on the desktop...
I just set my screen resolution to 2048 x 768 and the entire desktop stretched across....Since I'm using XP Pro...everything is on a grid...no more placing things to line them up right.... I also have different settings for multi...clone...zoom...and dvd max.... Dual heads rock....and, now there's a triple head...I think Matrox puts one out....my next computer....will have three... |

I'm using the Gainward Ti4600 and the nview software (while not perfect) gives me no problems with window position - it has a tick box so you tell it to remember where the windows were positioned the last time you used that particular program.
I had to do the monitor swap too (best monitor as secondary) but only because I have my tv plugged in to the card and I use the VCR and DVD through the pc. http://www.9xmedia.com/Images/CONFIG...20over%204.jpg What a fuckin BEAUTY!! |
Yeah you like that huh ??
If you sign up using my ref code to AP ... you can help me on my way to getting it ... LOL that beaute will take 10K out of your wallet !! :( Kat ... ICQ is in my sig if you would like to add me ... :thumbsup |
