Model Mayhem or One Model Place?
Which one is more popular, I just did a rank check on the domains
and modelhayhem Traffic Rank: 1,093 Traffic Rank in US: 328 Sites Linking In: 3,563 onemodelplace Traffic Rank: 14,392 Traffic Rank in US: 3,428 Sites Linking In: 1,102 Interesting. I am very curious about omp. Seems much more serious than MM Anyone have any experiences or comparisons? I just saw a model on MM advertising that she was available for booking "Fetish" shoots, I email her, she goes to me site, see's that I would be worshipping her feet on camera. Then informs me that she is married and "so not into that" blah. |
OMP is a mess, i hate it, as a website. For models, pretty good. MM is a much better website, for models, girls are much more delusional and flakey. for fetish, i think it would be better. You can get kicked off MM in a heartbeat for anything connected with adult/porn.
|
I have a profile on both. MM is harder to get an account with. You have to convince the mods you're some sort of "artist" before they'll approve your account. And you can't be overtly adult in your profile. The models there also seem to take modeling quite seriously and are more offended by "adult work" offers. They don't have an adult classification so you can't even search for girls who'll do various types of work. They do have a ton more models than OMP though.
OMP is better for me. You can search by what girls do and don't do and they'll generally say in their profile, exactly what they do which saves them and me a lot of time. My two cents. YMMV. I'd get an account at both. What can it hurt? |
yes that is true. i have had my mm account for years, get along good with the mods, etc. but yes they do not like adult, although there is adult stuff on the mm forum like everyday
|
Is there another Model Mayhem like site out there? That is free to paid, or do they totally own that market.
|
Yes, OMP used to rock, I was a paying customer from January, 2002 until about a year ago. MM rocks. You CAN find good girls on Model Mayhem but you will also get the models that want $150-$250 per hour for implied nudes. lol

I'm working on a version that allows adult stuff. It will take a bit to build up the girls on there, but I have experience doing it. I started Modelgig.com in late 2001.

Yes, when I travel, I usually hit up here as well, but um, yeah. Yes, you still own modelgig right?

your better off check these....if its "adult" models you want-
Adult Model Place Adult Staffing Erotic Staffing Hardcore Modeling Sexy Jobs all dot com's....some more traffic then others. but by and large all direct and to the point....Nude and above! |

I think you searched the wrong domain. MM is 13,730,733 on Alexa, you posted the right stats for OMP though. I think its clear who gets more traffic. lol http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/modelh...m#trafficstats |
i had a paid subscription to SexyJobs for a couple of years - never came close to finding a great new face on there. And a worse response rate from girls than on either OMP or MM - i bitched out the owner when I quit, wouldn't hurt them to check if whoever posted the profile actually responds to emails. i did find a few girls that I sent to other people who shot them for content.
tho............ Peter Romero says he discovered Bree Olsen on SexyJobs, flew her out to California and had her exclusive. i guess I wasn't checking it often enough because I surely would have noticed Bree and been offering her major bucks. MM and OMP are frustrating, I saw a girl on MM recently, an amazing girl, would be perfect for a teen solo site, had 'nudity' as a yes - I sent her a message immediately and literally couldn't sleep, kept waking up to see if she responded. She didn't. Days passed and no response, she didn't ever log in again after the first time. And that happens a lot on those sites. Could be a fake profile or simply a girl who was bored and found MM and posted some pics and totally forgot about it. |
this is the frustration and typical of MM - look at this girl, she's amazing, i've seen her boobs, they're round and big and perfect. she's already done nude modeling, for a hipster New York erotic magazine that publishes 4 times a year and has a circulation of probably 500 copies. so I contacted her and showed her what I wanted and offered her moolah. she replied back 'no thanks, i don't want to go down that road'

oh yeah, there are so many pretty women on MM. No, i rechecked the model mayhem stats on alexa, I have provided the link. I think you misspelled your query.

Still though, sadly, as many pretty girls are on MM, situations like the model on MM advertising that she was available for booking "Fetish" shoots, emailing her, she goes to my site, see's that I would be worshipping her feet on camera. Then informs me that she is married and "so not into that" ... Is just retarded imho.
What the fuck does she think the word "Fetish" is? |

That's the problem with these sites. Girls are not serious. Even if they state that they make nude, 1 out of 10 will answer. |
I hate that "I don't do nude but I'll do implied nude for 100-200 an hour" shit.
Unless you're a well known model or it's getting put into print most of these girls are not worth buying lunch. I know quite a few girls on MM and they do "implied nude" or "tasteful nude" shots and get paid little or no money and all they have to show are horrible pictures that are over processed, poorly lit and have no sense of purpose. With me - they get the same horrible photos but at least I will pay them a couple hundred bucks for the shoot but they won't do "Adult Modeling" even though half them have their twats showing on MM/OMP. I'd rather just deal with the girls from craigslist that you have to email with for a couple weeks until they realize that after having 3 kids and a meth addiction you aren't going to pay them $3500 for a solo scene. |
well the interesting thing about model networking sites is that I know alot of photographers here and I know that I am compensating top dollar for what I am asking. I have fabulous references, shit, even girls that I have "hosted", ie. let crash in my studio while they are traveling. And it is still about a 50 percent chance that I will go from emailing to meeting to booking all in the same month.
Other photographers locally say the same thing. I figured that with this recession, etc that the models that are trying to find work would actually want to book. Now of course, I know everyone is not going to want to be on an online fetish site, but... just saying... or maybe just ranting. CL is another story, I have not really used that site as a tool for finding talent so much. Maybe I should start. |

ModelMayhem is more popular. No one uses OMP anymore.

OMP is dead they are even trying to make you pay by e-mailing you that your paid membership is coming to an end and if you don't pay, your account is shut down. Even if like me you have never had a paid account with them.
Model Mayhem is a better site, models are a little more professional but i have never had much luck hiring from either site. This may be of use http://glamourmodels.com i used to post on their forum with some success, but again don't post for hardcore or you will be banned and removed. Otherwise local Craig's list works well...:thumbsup |

OK, shimmy, mr oslo, have you guys ever had any bad experiences through CL?

I'm assuming that typo was directed at me LOL. Hell yeah, I've had bad experiences with every method of recruitment I've used. OMP/ MM I haven't even been able to get girls to come shoot, or even think about it because porn is the devil. CL results in a lot of flakes, a couple of girls that were HOURS late showing up, and a couple girls that looked NOTHING like the pictures they sent which is now why I require meeting models before booking them to shoot. It's been my best avenue yet. Referrals have been great and bad for me as well. I've had models refer their friends to me and they either show up looking great and ready to rock or they look like a hot mess and I have to be the bad guy and say "Um no I'm not shooting you" (which I rarely do) and then my friends / other models get mad at me when they should know better. And of course with approaching girls out and about I get the looks of disgust, pissed off boyfriends when I tell them they can be involved as much as I can tolerate, and girls that are totally gung-ho for it then flake out. I've been recently sending out feelers to girls I've worked with in strip clubs and they're circulating that I'm shooting content which has had a bit of interest after a week or so. So we'll see how that pans out. |
I gave up when models started demanding to be paid AND receive a disc of ALL images taken for their own use. However, some will let you skip touching them up first. :1orglaugh

I have recruited lots of new models through online sources over the years. Especially SexyJobs.com and OMP. I never tried Model Mayhem though. Besides agents; model referrals and girls emailing me through my sites have always worked well for me. Back in the 90's I used to comb strip clubs all over North America pretty successfully but don't have time or patience for that anymore. Being a well known porn director for nineteen years has gotten me so many relationships with people on all levels of the business that I can pretty much just sit back and check my email and wait for my phone to ring nowadays with new teen girls almost every day.
