Hosting in Europe?

I would like to find out if I can save money on hosting, in Europe. I now lease a dedicated server (Dell Poweredge SC 1425 Plus) and pay 375 euro for 3 months. This price includes 1 mbps. For overusage I pay 35 euro per 1 mbps. Lately I have about 3 mbps overusage per month.

375 euro according to google currency converter is $512
35 euro is approximately $48

Besides the hosting I hire a guy who takes care of the server maintenance. He does backups to another server, he keeps the server software up-to-date (although I wonder if directadmin doesn't do that itself..) but more importantly for me I can call the guy whenever I have a server problem or question or even if I have some technical script question regarding my sites etc. For this I pay 130 euro every month ($ 178). I wonder; nowadays, aren't upgrades and backups included in most hosting deals?

Cheers :thumbsup

Thanks but I am not reading lots of positive messages from their clients..

Offshore hosting is generally a lot cheaper than .us companies, especially if you know where to look. Bandwidth on places like leaseweb is dirt cheap and very good quality

I paying only few cents in webair amsterdam datacenter.

Is it me or does LeaseWeb have extremely low prices? How is their support?

mikke 04-12-2010 04:14 AM

leaseweb has shitty support, but their network is stable, also their links to usa/ca are better than ovh or any .de dc..

Ok here's one - I've had a dedicated box with Webair for three years, the number of support tickets I've had to raise in that time you can probably count on one hand, they are top guys and if I was looking for hosting in Amsterdam they would be the first call.

Leaseweb only sells bare servers with BW, almost no support. You have to pay alot extra for support. Prices are very low indeed...

Instanboys please feel free to contact and I will be happy to help you with a fully managed dedicated server in Amsterdam.
