Its a canon so not a bad choice but seriously, you could find a better camera for everyday use. Maybe a Pentax, they do some nice small & handy cameras with nice zoom on them.

i got an old pentax optio that i've had for years now, love it as a little pocket cam. have had it probably 5 years now, still takes great photos, tough as nails, waterproof, you know it.

i'd recommend it to anyone, i'm sure the new models are sick.

We have an old PowerShot G3 that is like 6 years old. The photos it takes are still pretty impressive.

We are going to get a point and shoot as well the 20D is too damn big to carry around.
