Thanks eric but unfortunately
Hey Eric,
I wanted to thank you for sending me the GFY swag i had asked for. Unfortunately because i live in a communist country (URUGUAY) customs detained the swag due to the fact that 87 dollars was paid to ship the merchandise to me here and the value of the merchandise was 10 dollars totaling 97 dollars. Here in this fantastic country, anything i buy or have sent to me that has a total value shipping and merchandise above 50 dollars i am obligated to pay 60% tax on the total value of the merchandise shipping costs included. So in short customs wanted that i pay U$58.20 in tax on a free t-shirt you sent me. Another reason to love communist countries! Thanks again and hopefully i'll find myself with financial means soon enough to get the fuck out of this shit eating country!!! |
So you're a communist copywriter?
. |
no, just unfortunately living in a communist country.
|
that fucking sucks cock
|
It cost $87 to ship a shirt? WTF?
Was it priority overnight? |
Yeah. I have found that myself in shipping out hard drives.
I ship out all over the world. I used to send them from my PakMail which is down the street. However, they would 9 of 10 times be held at the FedEx office. I would have to call or go in there to fill out additional paperwork. Sometimes is just needed a commerical invoice. Other times, you have to change the value on the package. Some will require they be over, or under, a certain amount. You will also, sometimes, have to mark that it is NOT for resale, and/or manufacturer. This was a major pain when you are just shipping a hard drive with content. That said, I found that if you simply have PakMail or MailBox Inc package your shit up, then go to the Kinko FedEx it is cheaper. Like easily $50.00 cheaper alone as an average Joe. If you get a business account, and THEN do your shipping. You save another 30%. On top of the money savings, they also tell you what you need to, or not to, put on your invoice to get that bullshit to clear customs the FIRST time. Especially in regards to taxes. You can pay them yourself, or you can have recipient pay them. Free tip of the day. |
APPRECIATE THE HEADS UP.
i HAVE HAD BONGS COME FROM AMSTERDAM NO PROBLEM, BUT THEN AGAIN THE COST OF THE WATER PIPE AND SHIPPING WAS UNDER 50 DOLLARS SO... They're just shitbags here and look to fuck you any way they can! |
you must be fucking joking ... i have sent about 5 emails to different gfy places how can i get my tshirt, but never got any reply. i also asked here on gfy two or three times, everytime i have been told that tshirts are not available anymore, and now you tell me you got shirt? fuck what you did? smoked some cock or what? congrats anyway :thumbsup i will be happy for gfy shirt for 100 bucks
|
So....move from the shithole?
|
not too long ago there was a thread where someone posted a pic of themself in a nifty GFY sweatshirt.
In that same thread Eric said hit him up if we wanted swag. I did and he sent me a shirt that customs fucked me on. |

Are you doing capitalism in a communist country? That could be frowned upon. Also, some communist countries do not allow freedom of mobility and they don't allow you to leave the country. Good luck, themadwriter.

WOW man communist country? take it easy.. its fucking socialist but not communist..
you are making look us like the freaking CUBA it has nothing to do with communism.. those fees are like this since 10 years ago when they were not in the power... and custom was always a huge mess... and just for everyone to know Uruguay is as free or even more than the USA... but yah taxes to get things into the country are fucking expensive... cars can cost up to 3 times more than in the US... but thats always being like this.. |
Didn't knew that Uruguay is communist country...
|
that sucks, however I'm quite surprised they sent it at that cost. Was it overnight or what?

Here in URUGUAY if you kill 1 person or kill 50,000 the punishment is the same 30 years in prison. So people here are free to do whatever they want knowing that the most they'll get is 30 years. Here you are as well free to take your lawn clippings and branches you trim from your tress and bushes and set them on fire in the street as a means to dispose of them rather than put them in garbage bags and set them out by the curb. Lets not forget the socialized telephone company. Government owned and operated telephone company which means if you don't like the service they provide you at the price they charge you, well don't have a phone. This is a great country to come and vacation in, but for fuck sake man please don't live here. If this country were all that, there wouldn't be so many Uruguayans trying to get the fuck out of here! |
i still have my gfy shirt got it years ago when i was wearing mostly negro/hiphop sized shirts. Its big as fuck. I want a smaller one now ;)

Something customs as well explained to me is that they determine the price of the merchandise. So if i have something that these people have never seen before or do not sell in this country sent to me, regardless of what they receipt says the merchandise cost, they will still tell you what they believe it costs and have you pay 60% tax on top of that value! Thats what i call freedumb to be fucked by your government! |

You should try and read the definition of communism and see how much of that definition resembles life here in Uruguay! |
You sure don't fit on a "communist" country complaining about a lousy t-shirt (with all due respect)...
|
Damn, I'm still waiting for my hoodie from 4 years ago :1orglaugh

I should be like the rest of the sheep in this country and just lie down and be fucked! |
Yep, waiting on my stuff for over 2 months now.
|
as i said this is not cuba you are free to go whenever you want...
and yes this country has a lot of issues.. but if it wasnt because of the freaking winter season i would live very happy all year round... i give a fuck about politics i just care about living my life mate.. |

After reading this thread you sound so clueless about what you're talking about I think many people would never hire you to write anything. For starters, last I checked, Uruguay is a capitalist country. And before you send someone to read about communism or socialsim or any ism, maybe you'd start yourself. Really, even though I don't live in Uruguay I know it perfectly and I know most of its economy throughout the last 25-30 years, so please get a "communism for dummies" book and then enlighten me on Uruguay's supposed communist policies, because I'm lost as hell.
Plus, I'm pretty sure many countries will receive you with open arms, why don't you go there if you hate your country so much? As other people said, it's not like these policies came from Mujica or Tabaré Vázquez, not even Batlle. And ANTEL was established in 1974 by Bordaberry from the Partido Colorado, a fanatic anti-communist party. So seriously, again: WTF are you speaking about? :Oh crap |
the above post is endorsed by Mao (see sig) :1orglaugh

I think it was the episode where Bart makes the prank call to Australia and Lisa is trying to explain how the water spins clockwise in the southern hemisphere. So homer looks at countries on the globe in the southern hemisphere and he sees Uruguay... and now you know the rest of the story lol |

I'm flattered that me expressing my unhappiness with some of the shit that goes on in Uruguay hurt your feeling so much so that you felt compelled to start your comment off by attacking me and saying that i'm clueless and you think many people would never hire me to write something for them. I find it really convenient for you to make your comment being you're on the outside looking in. To start you should update your sources from which you get your info because Uruguay is not a Capitalist country but rather a Left-Wing Social-Democracy. I take full blame for having been so vague in expressing my opinion about this situation and not being more clear as to what i wanted to say by this is a communist country. Uruguay's current government is the Frente Amplio which preaches a lot of great shit, but i can say from first hand experience and not from having kept up to date with the countries economic policies that many of the practices by todays government border on that of what i believe to be communism. Any country that is ran by a government that does things in their own personal interest and gain and not that of its people is communist to me. Opinions are like assholes, everyone has got one and they all stink. You shouldn't let my opinions get your feathers so ruffled. |

(and btw, believe me I have more info than you on the subject. As a matter of fact, you're showing it by yourself! :1orglaugh ) |
where is my GFY t-shirt?

Customs duties can be a bitch. Found that out the hard way when I ordered software and had it shipped via DHL here in the Philippines. $50+
|
Anything new shipped to me that has Made in china on it costs me 300% mark up.
And I don't live in a communist country. Just a competing one with China |
