How do I get back at a spammer?
Just got a spam to my personal address...
Can I fuck up his computer some how? Can I report him to the FTC? I WANT REVENGE!!!! |
Everyone gets spam. If the spammer is even half intelligent he will make himself untraceable, so just hit the delete button like everyone else and move on with your life.
|
Yip report'em 2
FTC and the FBI, don't know if it will do any good though. I've had better results with. :Graucho spamcop.net |

Stop whining. You aren't the only person that gets fucking spam. You're acting like you're special or something. Only YOU shouldn't get spam?? Delete the shit and get over it.:321GFY |

Finally some decent advice! Problem is: "auto-bounce the spam back to the spammer" (they never use a real return address) "delete direct from the server" (already off the server since I checked with my e-mail program) "block the addy" (again, they never use a real return address and the never use the same address twice) We're getting there, but I need some tools that will work. |
it's free and it works... i filter everything incoming through mailwasher.... I don't get spam anymore..... at all. Although, now I look forward to new ones, cuz it's fun bouncing them back... :glugglug

offer to suck his cock..maybe that way u will be deleted from his list!
|
I will give it a try, but...
Blacklisting that addy is pointless...no decent spammer uses the same address twice. And looking at it through mailwasher or looking at it in my e-mail client takes the same time. I would rather not spend the time looking at it at all. Whether I download it or not is a moot point. Bouncing it back to the sender is kinda cool (I'm assuming the program looks at the X-sender header). Unfortunately, even the most basic spam mailer deletes the header when sending. The only information you really have is the original sender's IP, which is usually just a computer with no POP3 software running. Therefore, sending any e-mail back to it will only error or get returned. |
alright.. well, whatever man.... you asked what you could do, and I told ya what I use. It works great for me.... been using it for quite a while now, and I couldn't be happier.
best of luck though.... |

Aww is the poor baby upset? He has to revert to name calling? How old are you Brocklander? lol. That's funny how upset he gets because somone tells him the truth and how it is. Brocklander just stop whining for god's sake. You're E-Machine probably froze when you tried to delete the spam from your hotmail account, and now you're all pissed off. Don't come on a board and cry about getting spammed. You're just making yourself look childish and immature.:) |
How about some DOS attack software? C'mon all you h@xt0r l33t w00t fags out there, be useful for once!

I'm not upset, and stop being a fucking hypocrite. You're calling me a baby, childish and immature...who is name calling? I'm not whining, just asking for some help. I know I'll encounter bullshit from ignorant fucks like you, but sometimes decent people like AMP post something useful, as oppose to a fuckface like you who got into computers last year because mommy whored herself out just so she could buy you a used PowerMac for Christmas. How's AOL 3.0 treating you? Sit down junior, this is a big boy discussion. |

None of that other bullshit affects me, I want my spam stopped and so far only Amp and Unseen World have any decent advice. The rest of you don't know how, so you just post fluff. |

Ok, I'll bite. How do I bounce an e-mail to a spammer with nothing but the originating IP? |

So, Broky -- how long have you had that penis stuck in your head?
Grow up dammit - everybody gets spam, get your finger out of your ass and lear to deal with it. |

Look, I appreciate your advice . I was just curious how it could possibly help considering the functionality you explained. I never get spam from the same sender, the spam I do get I don't want to look at, I don't want to block legitimate e-mails, and I don't know how to generate a fake bounce when the only think I know about the spammer is his computer's IP address. I would be more than happy to try your solution if you could provide answers to the above questions. But please don't get all huffy puffy if I don't accept what you say right off the bat. I want to solve my spam crisis, not upset people. |

"Spam crisis"?!?!?!? You get ONE fucking spam and its a crisis?? HAHAH, boy are you a little bitch or what?? Shit, most people get one spam in an hour. Quote:

Amp, I meant technically. Don't be a fucking smart ass, you're more professional than that. And don't assume I'm a newbie, I'll run circles around most of you when it comes to computers. Explain to me how a SMTP server will bounce e-mail back to a computer that is not running any type of receiving (POP3) e-mail server? If that can be done, shit, I'll pay mad money for that. Otherwise, that mailwasher program is claiming it does something it doesn't do (unless we're talking about the newbie spammer that not only puts his correct e-mail address in the Reply To: field, he actually checks that account!). Doubtful. Going to the source product the spammer promotes is the best advice I have heard yet. That to me makes more sense. |

I just downloaded mailwasher and it looks promising. Thanks Amp.

want a demo? send me an email to spam at opticalamplitude.com and I promise it'll come right back to you...

The thing is Amp, you can't bounce an e-mail back to a fake address. Since most spam originates from fake addresses, that feature is pretty much useless, as are the other features in the program. Heck, if spammers used legitimate return addresses, that program would kick ass. But in the real world, that program is pretty much useless. |

You are misreading this. The bounced bounce e-mail never touches your inbox...the original spam does.
BTW, mail sent to you and I haven't received it back. Of course, that is your spam addy, so you obviously didn't receive it. But had it been your real e-mail addy, you would have received it. Your program would block that e-mail addy in the future, but I would use another fake address next time. And it would get through. We are going around in circles, because you don't understand the functionality of mailwasher completely or perhaps e-mail completely. If the program blocked the originating computer's IP address and domain, that would work. If the program could tell if a return address was fake, that would work. I'm pretty sure mailwasher doesn't do either, so I can't see how effective the program could be. It might stop like 2%, but that's pretty much useless. |

I have a program that will work for you..
Its called "hitting the delete key" try it, hey - its free and you do not have to download anything.. |
all I can tell ya brock, is that I used to get several HUNDRED spams a day to my inbox..... now with mailwasher, I think maybe two or three actually make it to mailwasher, and they are added to the list as soon as I see them....
now if that's the definaition of "ineffective", I'll take it. You are complaining about ONE spam that came to your box.... I personally would have simply deleted it and moved on with life, but since you were looking for a solution.... I think mailwasher can handle it quite easily. I'm not a server guru or a spam professional or a programmer or anything else... but I know I have eliminated several hundred daily spams with this thing. that's all I'm saying. If you don't feel it is adequate, then don't use it.... it's no skin off my ass. |
hold on let me find al gores email... he will personally take care of it for you and send you and apology letter on behalf of the internet.
|
thanx Amp for the great link
|
plus, it's alot less taxing on the system than leaving Outlook open all day, and alot less taxing on my sanity than seeing spam flooding into my box all day and robbing my time to manually delete them. For a free program, I personally think it's the best thing since the invention of the CD burner.
