RAID cards on ebay... crap?

Why are some RAID cards $20 and some $300. Please save the dumb usual GFY answers like "you get what you pay for". The price distribution isn't like most products with only a few things at the high end - there are a lot at $300 - so why are some much cheaper?

it's actually true in the case of raid cards, they vary a lot in quality and features.

Compare specs and you'll see. It's mostly processing power. This greatly affects it's speed at calculating parity bits for RAID5 and 6, or if it's powerful enough to do RAID 6 at all. etc.
