What was the longest you went with no sleep?

GFY insomniacs, speak up :)

candyflip 03-31-2010 07:56 PM

I don't think I really ever go without sleep, I just have a real hard time falling asleep and staying asleep.

Agent 488 03-31-2010 07:56 PM

even high i sleep for an hour or two somehow.

Spunky 03-31-2010 07:56 PM

The most was 30 hours

Sneakysites 03-31-2010 08:02 PM

I've done 30+ hrs a few times I find once I go past 26 or 27 hrs I get over tired and can't sleep.

JD 03-31-2010 08:04 PM

most i've ever done is 52 hours. that was a long time ago and god damn it sucked

Jon Oso 03-31-2010 08:05 PM

72 hours straight.

brassmonkey 03-31-2010 08:07 PM

Farang 03-31-2010 08:10 PM

amateurs.

Got dropped off at the airport in Caracas 4 hours before my flight, flight was delayed 7.5 hours, got in seat, waited about two more hours before taking off, 5 hours in the air, 2 hours through customs, 20 minutes waiting for my driver, 2 hours the entire way home and then another 5 hours of drinking before I passed out. I only know because of my last credit card receipt. It's only a 10 min walk home from last receipt and then completely blank... Come to find out the next day that I was kicked out of the last bar because i was face down; ass in the barstool, head cocked to the side laying on the bar and hands dangling to the floor...

I was pretty much finished when I got off the jet. In retrospect, I'm so glad that I didn't get thrown in the loony bin.

marcop 03-31-2010 08:13 PM

60 hours. Drugs were involved.

fatfoo 03-31-2010 08:14 PM

Sleeping for about an hour during the daytime is a way to increase your brain activity.

mikeyddddd 03-31-2010 08:18 PM

I drove straight through from Seattle to Tulsa -
after I was already up for 24 hours.
It was around 60 hours total.

2 weeks....

Rochard 03-31-2010 09:09 PM

Not sure, but it's got to be in the 72 hour range. I was never a big sleeper.

Once I went to Internext in Florida and bunked with Tanker. We didn't sleep the entire show. The red bull helped (I've never done drugs so that's that.) We partied all day and all night, spent the night at the pool or at the beach, 7am showered, went down to breakfast and did it again.

Oh, to be young again.

I was going to call you a retard, but noticed that you are a woman.

Semi-Retired-Dave 03-31-2010 10:31 PM

When we started our business back in 1995ish, I used to sleep every other day. I still have my insomnia though. It sucks.

" You can get seriously sick from lack of sleep starting around 5 days and the record was 8 days done on a radio program (He did have the help of drugs to keep him awake, too) but the Guinness book of world records won't accept it because they say it is too dangerous. Scientists say that at around 10-11 days you would be dead "

Found here ..... How Long Can The Body Survive Without Sleep ??? so whats so retarded about the reply....other than your response....I just thought it was an interesting fact to add to my comment.

LeRoy 03-31-2010 10:54 PM

My occupation is... at the moment, housebuilder"

A female house builder talks about scientists and you post it as a fact. Congrats, woman, now go back to kitchen.

My friend was up for 14 days, he was shooting meth.

FrozenJag 04-01-2010 12:08 AM

I went about 36 hours until I finally went to sleep yesterday about 7am. Thats one of my longer stretches for sure.

ottopottomouse 04-01-2010 06:57 AM

5 days while taking some antihistamine tablets that made me totally unable to sleep and I could feel myself starting to go mad :Oh crap

CaptainHowdy 04-01-2010 07:00 AM

A day and half or so...

sperbonzo 04-01-2010 07:27 AM

I was working as a recording engineer in LA in the 80s, and I was up working on editing a set of Jane's Addiction radio spots that had to be ready on short notice. I was in the control room for 41 hours, except for going to the bathroom. I didn't see any daylight for the entire time. At the end a messenger was waiting to grab the 1/2 inch 2 track tapes from us to take to mastering.

No drugs except coffee, cigarettes and pizza....

96ukssob 04-01-2010 07:35 AM

my 5th year in college during finals. I had 4 in two days and stayed up for over 48 hours without sleep... i felt like I was tripping because I was hallucinating so badly from lack of sleep :1orglaugh

i used to pull "all nighters" all the time, mainly because if i had something going on before 10am i would most likely miss it if i had to wake up... plus I am a HUGE procrastinator so i would try cram a whole semester of learning into a single night

Martin 04-01-2010 07:48 AM

24 or so hours. .

CurrentlySober 04-01-2010 07:51 AM

8 Days... In a 'Past Life'...

gfy is the monster of ever repeating topics.

alias 04-01-2010 07:52 AM

About 11 days, more than once.

Paul Markham 04-01-2010 07:56 AM

During the late 60s would often go the whole weekend including Friday without sleep. Used to take speed to keep going. Then you crash and sleep for a day.

JP513 04-03-2010 09:57 AM

31-32 hours is about the most I could ever do without collapsing.

Now I have done this 2 times consecutively, so I've gone about 60 hours once with only a single hour of sleep.

J. Falcon 04-03-2010 10:18 AM

Not more than one night and I haven't done that in about 10 years. I used to party all night then go to work when I was 20 or so, could never do that now.

cosis 04-03-2010 10:59 AM

a few days

seeandsee 04-03-2010 11:01 AM

36 hours max

punkpred 04-03-2010 11:22 AM

Close to 48 hours

rip raster 04-03-2010 01:04 PM

30 or 40 days several times when coming off of painkillers, I may have nodded off for 5 or 10 min every few days or so over that time but that's nowhere near enough sleep to function normally, I felt like a freaking zombie....I still don't really sleep much, the most I usually get is maybe 6 hours and most nights only about 3 to 4 hours.

maxjohan 04-03-2010 01:14 PM

I went without sleep for 3-4 days and when I looked
myself in the mirror. I looked like terminator, it's crazy.

Badly wounded, terminator.

Like half my face was cut wide open or something. I will not
do that again ever, haven't recovered yet after this trip.

Now I have insomnia. I can't really sleep at night.

ShellyCrash 04-03-2010 01:21 PM

When I was younger I did about 4 days, near the end it was like tripping. No drugs were involved, just didn't have a place I felt comfortable sleeping at. I got all goofy and started seeing trails. I don't know how people can go longer than that.

mikke 04-03-2010 01:21 PM

over 48h without sleep, no redbull, cofeine or sth.. :)
(24h roadtrip to amsterdam, and partying for next over 24h xd)
