What are most webmaster's using for their HD camcorder?

Buy at least 3

Loch 03-28-2010 08:10 AM

Sont EX3

Special Ed 03-28-2010 09:48 AM

ttt ;-) Bump for the camcorder!

Mr. E 03-28-2010 09:53 AM

I use a Canon HF S100. Will shoot just as good quality video as that $5k XL H1A for $1100. Before you tell me I am nuts, my roommate and I already tested the two indoors and out and there is VERY minimal difference. Plus its much smaller and lighter but you will want a wide angle adapter for it.

Loch 03-28-2010 10:00 AM

Panasonic HPX3000 maybe :)

My guess is that most webmasters don't own an HD camcorder.

DBS.US 03-28-2010 10:36 AM

Same here and I see no reason to upgrade. Light your sets well, get a wide-angle lens, a microphone, and a decent steadicam and you're all set.

busta21 03-28-2010 02:45 PM

Canon XHA1-S - You can adjust it quickly and on the go + its super light

splendideyetorture 08-11-2010 02:11 PM

are these any good?

Canon HF10
or
CANON LEGRIA FS200

Is manual focus really important? Is that what you guys do mostly?

minniesoporno 08-11-2010 02:13 PM

I got the Sony HD Bloggie MHS-CM5 but I am looking to get a higher end SONY , maybe a cannon.

candyflip 08-11-2010 02:14 PM

I've got a Sony consumer HD cam. It does the job.

I just gave it to my girlfriend, but the HTC EVO phone that I was carrying shot some nice footare in 720p. That's a nice thing to have in your pocket.

MaDalton 08-11-2010 02:16 PM

anyone tried the Sony HD1000? Our FX1 just died after only a few thousand videos :-/

middle of next month I'll have time to shoot some family pics for ya Dave if you're interested

Nikki_Licks 08-11-2010 03:15 PM

I use a Z1U Sony :thumbsup

Kolargol 08-11-2010 03:22 PM

Riffhard: Decent steadicam is probably much more expensive than hv20 itself.

Buzz 08-11-2010 03:23 PM

I suppose webmaster = porn shooting guy?

if so - take a look at Canon XF300 or Sony EX1r, these two deliver the best quality for the money paid.

otherwise any 300$ camera will work.

If I were in the market it would certainly be in my top 3 for under $1K.

splendideyetorture 08-11-2010 03:48 PM

cheers.

Any more recommendations?

We're just starting out on a new site so for now have a budget of around $500.

Could anyone please let me know what I features I should look for? and do you guys use manual focus or automatic?

I read some reviews for this before when I saw it on this thread but just slightly over budget.

Will keep this one in mind though.

Chris 08-11-2010 04:03 PM

im shocked at the lack of dslr camera users
you can get the pentax k-x that does 720p video for 599 i think

Thanks guys.

I'm weighing up your recommendations... please keep them coming.

Bump for this thread since I'm in the market for a camcorder. Seems like most people here use Canon. I'm interested in the Panasonic TM700 or HMC40. It's been getting rave reviews elsewhere.

The Panasonics do not use Mini-DV tapes - whether or not that matters to you.

Also, the HMC40 is not under $1,000 - again, I don't know if this matters to you or not...

For most shooting we use the SONY EX1 and for public we use the Panasonic HDC-SD9

The EX1 attracts to much attention in public shoots, the lil Pani HDC-SD9 is perfect for capturing public flashing, sex and masturbation scenes in bright daylight.

Gonzodave 02-21-2011 05:57 PM

Sony HDR-FX7 - Never let me down yet!
