Real Estate is the best investment

I think it is true.

What about a mobile home or a trailer? It can move around. Would this still be considered real estate or is it a vehicle?

no I would consider them trailer park trash. :2 cents:

fatfoo 03-25-2010 07:59 PM

I don't think it's trash. Think about the value.

It's a house and car in one.

mmcfadden 03-25-2010 08:05 PM

I'm going to say this just because I am a nice guy and like to see others succeed.

Between san jose del cabo and cellitos is a stretch of shore front mexican property selling for dirt cheap. It will be worth 10 X in ten years because it is going to be heavily built up.

That's what I'm talking about - worth 10 ten times more. Now that's something. As long as there is no flood or tsunami, the house will still stand.

I come from an Italian background and we would consider them trashy. No one I would associate with would ever live in a car house. :helpme

most people are spooked about Mexico these days due to the media, but all that violence by the border has been around for over 20 years. Mexico beaches are amazing so yes that would give you 10 fold if you have the ability to invest.

Domain Diva 03-25-2010 08:20 PM

Domains are a great investment..property doesnt even come close for returns....

CamRoulette ....Registered 12-12-09 (just over 3 months ago) Purchase price 99 cents using Godaddy coupon....sold $151,000 :)

I asked my buddy who spent the last 4 years in baja by cabos about the violence. Its not down there. He started the first and only micro brew in baja california and knows everyone down there. Cabo san lucas and san jose. I just spent a week there and the place is killer.

Btw it is cerritos, hot surf spot on the pacific

Valuable property is the key to wealth.

Problem is that you would have to be Mexican to purchase it

KillerK 03-25-2010 08:32 PM

why don't you get a truck with a camper on it?

That way you get a moving apartment.

aniloscash 03-25-2010 08:33 PM

mobile homes depreciate like automobiles. Not good investments.

Trailer parks are great investments, but don't be an asshole and buy one then kick everyone out.

I know people that do that and it's bad Karma. Great money in it, but it's cruel.

Yeah, I was wanting to by a section of beautiful beachfront Mexican coastline years ago and was introduced to Article 27 of the Mexican Constitution which prohibits ownership of beachfront property by foreigners and foreign corporations. Only persons born in Mexico or corporations established in Mexico can gain title to property within Mexico's "Restricted Zone" (land within 100 km of the borders or 50 km of the sea). Sucks, but I respect that.

Spunky 03-25-2010 08:41 PM

So renting some land to park your Winnebago on is a sound investment?

Mobile homes are not real estate, because they are mobile. In some cases a mobile home can be reclassified as real estate if the axles are removed, the home is pinned down on a permanent foundation, & the town taxes the structure like a home.

Real estate is going to be a shitty investment for a long time. only when the foreclosures die out & the unemployed get jobs will real estate start going back up.

a good investment would be oil. The oil companies are starting to gouge again.

BSleazy 03-25-2010 08:54 PM

Trailers aren't mobile or cars or whatever. At least the ones I've seen in trailer parks.

fatfoo 03-25-2010 08:55 PM

One thing is for sure, if you don't have a house... you're homeless.

Weird thing... I read a news article of a homeless man that went to college. I guess they can still do that.

Was watching Swank the other day on Discovery Travel and Living and they were showing plush trailer homes (coaches they called them) worth millions. Some were fucking amazing.

96ukssob 03-25-2010 09:02 PM

here is how to get rich

1) go into a newly developed home community with large homes ($700k+)
2) get a friend to spread rumors about the housing community being haunted or has some air born disease the comes form the basement walls... just something to scare people so they move out.
3) now buy the homes for 1/3 the price
4) have friend admit he is crazy and made up the story and actually the houses are so safe and actually cured his uncle from being blind to having 20/20 vision overnight
5) resell them in 6 months for 4x the price!

i normally charge $1000's for my information, but this is a free present to everyone here :thumbsup

Rochard 03-25-2010 11:11 PM

I just bought a condo a few months back for the price of a nice SUV. Paid cash. Trying to save up to buy another one. Easy money.

SomeCreep 03-25-2010 11:41 PM

real estate and mortgage backed securities will take a hit for years but eventually recover. big mess to clean up still.

ErectMedia 03-26-2010 12:11 AM

I have sold quite a few dropped domains for x,xxx to xx,xxx. For me getting that type of return on $7-$8 can't be beat.

zabijaq 03-26-2010 02:47 AM

Like ErectMedia said, expired domains, TYPO domains, domains for flipping ... are great investment, if you put some effort and learn alot, there's great ROI.

Real estate is worst biz if you don't own construction company. As buyer, you just put your money on ice, OK, they usually don't drop in value for decade (unlike during this crisis) but you won't earn a sh!t or very little in % and also, there are expences, especially when you rent it.

This post on my blog might give you idea about domain biz, rest of the job is to check news on domainnamewire.com, namepros.com, dnforum.com, ......

Real estate would be the land you park it on.

stephane76 03-26-2010 07:06 AM

it's a good time to buy in the US, prices are at the lowest right now

marcop 03-26-2010 07:56 AM

Real estate is the best investment? I think there are several million Americans who would beg to differ.

Yeah, because they bought stupid! Can't mortgage something for 120% of its value and not expect to get burned.

Mobile homes aren't real estate until they are tied down to a property BTW. Mobile homes generally are bad to own, unless they are rentals. Mobile home parks are a whole other story.

Anyone wants to talk real estate, hit me up. I love it!
