You gotta be kidding me. Its the best way to check out. Spend everything you got before you die. That is a good life.

Sly 03-24-2010 09:15 PM

Battling your ex-husband over money while he is dying from cancer? Wow.

J. Falcon 03-24-2010 09:15 PM

What a great actor, his role in Apocalypse Now is one of my favorites.

Agent 488 03-24-2010 09:16 PM

he had plenty of great roles.

marcop 03-24-2010 09:42 PM

I've been a fan of his since I saw Easy Rider waaaaaay back in the 70's. He lives in Venice, only a mile or so from where I live--I saw him once at Hal's (restaurant) on Abbott Kinney, and another time in my bank. He was a good photographer, and could've had a career shooting photos.

JD 03-24-2010 10:01 PM

probably broke BECAUSE of the cancer. Treating even minor cancer is a HUGE medical bill

Agent 488 03-24-2010 10:05 PM

just read his bitch wife stole 1.5 mil in paintings while he was in the hospital and is in hiding.

He is one of the best. Weird as fuck, but a great performer.

I watched " True Grit " for the first time last week and noticed a very young Dennis Hopper playing one of the bad guys. He certainly has played a lot of memorable roles and while he will be sorely missed as a person, his body of work will go on forever. I hope he can leave this world happy and satisfied.

CaptainHowdy 03-25-2010 06:56 AM

Peter Romero 03-25-2010 09:31 AM

Met him several times. He was a friend of Bill's for many years. A true artist. Hope he pulls through!

Tom_PM 03-25-2010 09:39 AM

Lot's of support and courage to one of the all time greats.

Bad marriage and bad health is not an easy combination.

Been a huge fan ever since I saw Easy Rider, one of my all time favorite villain character actors too (Blue Velvet tops).

Hopper, 73, filed for divorce Jan. 14 and both sides have cited irreconcilable differences for the breakup. A court hearing on visitation and the protective order is scheduled for March 9.

Thursday's filings were first reported by celebrity Web site TMZ.

Victoria Hopper, 42, claimed in court papers filed last month that the actor smoked marijuana around their daughter, threatened her and that his illness had left him unable to make sound decisions. She also claims the divorce proceedings are an attempt to keep her from receiving an inheritance.

Makes one wonder how does something as a 14 year marriage turn into something this nasty.

Dennis counters in legal docs that in the last 9 years he's sold art to the tune of $1,895,000, but his expenses to create and store the art totaled $1,850,000 -- so he's saying the net profit for 9 years is a measly $45,000.
Sounds extremely fishy.

73 years for Dennis Hopper is probably like 120 for anybody else. Seems like this guy stuffed allot of living into it.

PornMD 03-25-2010 11:06 AM

Man, if anything Hopper needs to go out like he did on Speed. Dying slowly isn't his style. :(

_Richard_ 03-25-2010 12:12 PM

hope he gets better

smutnut 03-25-2010 12:20 PM

He had a decent life and it was always a pleasure to see him pop up in movies and even take over a lot of them even with only bit parts. He was in CRASH for both seasons, even the second pathetic one which wasn't his fault in anyway.

He even directed some films COLORS and THE HOT SPOT just to name two and they were decent flicks! I'll but he stuffed some good pussy too.

It's hard to cry for people who at least had the breaks right there in front of them, but I like Hopper.

Brandon99 03-25-2010 12:21 PM

I'll always remember him as the crazy professor from My Science Project

alexchechs 03-25-2010 12:26 PM

One of America's finest talents... so sad to hear

michael.kickass 03-25-2010 01:33 PM

Sad news to such a great maverick.

Some of my fav roles

and of course

Couldn't find anything from Red Rock West. Great movie and he is awesome

selena 03-26-2010 11:14 PM

I liked lots of his stuff, but one of my favorites was his Shooter role for Hoosiers.

garce 03-27-2010 12:05 AM

One of the all time greats. What this man has earned and lost, witnessed and lived through is beyond anything I could imagine. Regardless of how he goes out, his was a life that was lived.
