I think they said the odds are 1 in 135,000,000.

I remember watching a show where a group of companies bought all of the combonations for some huge drawing.

Those super bowls are so huge and you americans go crazy over them, they had the 250 million superbowl a couple of years ago on CNN, and they showed this indian guy with a little corner store. He said "We start at 8am and we still super bowl tickets all day long, we don't sell anything else during this period."

I mean they had lines and lines outside his shop.

Personally i've never been one to throw my money into lotto, let along when the chances are 1 in 135,000,000

And you know, if you win and get 350 million, the IRS comes along and takes half of it off you, and you get dripped feed the rest over 20 years I think...

how many numbers was it?

sonomasnap 12-26-2002 09:35 AM

people usually do not understand the math behind a lotto. lets say the odds of winning are 1:100,000,000. most people say then why not buy 100,000,000 tickets and bank the 340MM jackpot. problem with that logic is that the odd are that there will be more than 1 winning ticket. your share gets split and split depending on how many tickets match. also, the higher the payout the more tickets sold therefore the more chances for multiple winner. best bet, buy 1 or 2 tickets and just hope you are the luckiest fuck on the planet.

the person that won is from west virginia, the poorest most uneducated state in the US. bet the winner doesn't even have all of his teeth. life is funny.

merry christmas

In a fit of boredom, I set down one day and did the math for the 6 no. lottery..

Just based on filling out tickets.. completing one per minute.. 8 hours a day.. it would take over 15 years to fill them all out..

looks like i need to run to the store and have them run my tickets, maybe i'll have a check to cash soon :thumbsup

There's a lump-sum cash option...the pot is smaller, but you don't sit around for 20-30 years.

If the winner elects the cash option, he/she's going to walk away with $100,000,000 after taxes according to reports...in one lump sum. :eyecrazy

They used machines to print the tickets and had 100's of people buying them.
