America is Republic No Democracy

America is a Republic, not a democracy. I just thought this was important to point out because of some other threads here.

In a republic you vote for people to represent your interests. You don't have a direct vote yourself so polls and other bullshit don't matter and shouldn't, but lets discuss that now...

(actually maybe polls and etc. matter more. Just saying that i didn't think out this post entirely, just that we are a republic).

Probably, but I'm surprised it even took that long to be that stupid. I'm sure that's probably what proved it didn't work. Our system is based on the system of Rome. They just get us jerking off to democracy in grade school, us white kids anyway LOL.

Quagmire 03-23-2010 05:21 PM

wait, you sure it isn't a democracy? Obama is a Democrat, right? It was a Republic when Bush was in office, no?

And with a Republic, or "The Law", Government is to be limited and liberties are to be protected. Which doesn't seem to be happening as of late or for that matter in a long time :disgust

Smut must have read a new word today, he has no idea what he's talking about.

slapass 03-23-2010 05:38 PM

I think the US is technically described as an indirect democracy. I never did figure out why we were not a Republic.

We are a Constitutional Republic. We do not send people to represent us, the way you think, we send people to protect the constitution not side step it.

Quote:

A constitutional republic is a state where the head of state and other officials are elected as representatives of the people, and must govern according to existing constitutional law that limits the government's power over citizens.

Yup, they matter unless the Democrats are on the losing end. Then the poll is biased and there's a lot of "Fear mongering".

What way do I think? Do you or do you not elect someone to represent your district?

If this were Rome you would be electing someone to assassinate Cesaer because you wouldn't have the balls to do it yourself! That's a fact!

Yes but not for "my interest" but to protect the Constitution and to the government remains limited and the States and The People hold the power, not the federal government. THAT is exactly what our constitutional republic elects federal reps for. Not to get me shit.

I'm not sure what your interests are, but if you want to do anything more than wipe your ass with the constitution you might want to go back to school and get a high school diploma at least. You have no idea what your vote does or doesn't do and who you are electing to do what and what they actually can do for you.
