Say NO to Socialism

This morning I was awoken by my alarm clock powered by electricity generated by the public power monopoly regulated by the US department of energy. I then took a shower in the clean water provided by the municipal water utility. After that, I turned on the TV to one of the FCC regulated channels to see what the national weather service of the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration determined the weather was going to be like using satellites designed, built, and launched by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. I watched this while eating my breakfast of US Department of Agriculture inspected food and taking the drugs which have been determined as safe by the Food and Drug Administration.

At the appropriate time as regulated by the US congress and kept accurate by the National Institute of Standards and Technology and the US naval observatory, I get into my National Highway Traffic Safety Administration approved automobile and set out to work on the roads build by the local, state, and federal Departments of Transportation, possibly stopping to purchase additional fuel of a quality level determined by the Environmental Protection Agency, using legal tender issued by the Federal Reserve Bank. On the way out the door I deposit any mail I have to be sent out via the US Postal Service and drop the kids off at the public school.

After spending another day not being maimed or killed at work thanks to the workplace regulations imposed by the Department of Labor and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, enjoying another two meals which again do not kill me because of the USDA, I drive my NHTSA car back home on the DOT roads, to my house which has not burned down in my absence because of the state and local building codes and fire marshal’s inspection, and which has not been plundered of all it’s valuables thanks to the local police department.

I then log on to the internet which was developed by the Defense Advanced Research Projects administration and post on freerepublic.com and Fox News forums about how socialism in medicine is bad because the government can’t do anything right.
Interesting comments from others about it

Its no so bad, comparing it to the ancient Rome. Back then "its every man for themselves" and there is a 98% that you are a slave.

I love it how a) the commenters think the OP is not being sarcastic and b) how so many Americans seem to confuse socialism and communism.

With the way the banks screwed everyone, the prices charged by drug companies, hospital and insurance companies and the antics of companies that inflated their share price so the bosses could make a fortune. Do you really want to trust big businesses to look after everything?

Government is not ideal, but the best system is a mix with Government checking on business.

Haha yea, it was the banks that created the subprime mortgage crisis. It was the banks that created the financial crisis. ROFL, wake up.

regardless of what regulations might of changed, it was the banks who thought they could re-sell their mortgages as securities..just because they could doesn't mean they had to/should of.

It was the dealers on the stock exchange floors buying and selling shares in things that were clearly over valued that created this crisis. You can't blame the crash of banks and investment companies around the world of the US creating the subprime mortgage market.

Plus the enormous deficits run up by Governments thinking bank profits would always pay for it.

Wake up yourself.

Actually, it was Alan Greenspan's stupid ass who kept long term interest rates on ARMs incredibly low, causing a bubble. That's basically it. And stocks have been overvalued for about a decade because American people as a whole are both stupid and greedy so they keep buying up. Don't blame it on the brokers.

Most of America is a Socialist Country - most of the good parts... just the people are too stupid to realize it.

1. an economic theory or system in which the means of production, distribution, and exchange are owned by the community collectively, usually through the state. It is characterized by production for use rather than profit, by equality of individual wealth, by the absence of competitive economic activity, and, usually, by government determination of investment, prices, and production levels Com
