Greatest Sports Moment of All Time?

This has to be in the top 5:

justinsain 03-22-2010 11:17 AM

Because of the incredible display of respect shown by the people he competed against this makes the top of my list for the greatest sports moment of all time.

mvee 03-22-2010 11:18 AM

This is probably biggest ever in baseball and in the top ten all time.

Caligari 03-22-2010 11:18 AM

Tracy Porter intercepts Peyton Manning in SuperBowl XLIV - at least the greatest in recent memory.

Gotta go with 1980 Olympic Hockey, US college students defeating the mighty Soviet Union.

Thanks, but yes it way compares.

The Demon 03-22-2010 11:36 AM

Rofl, it no way compares Caligari. Good try though.

NaughtyRob 03-22-2010 11:37 AM

Actually it doesn't even come close. It might be a great moment for Saints fan (the only great moment as a matter of fact), but when compared to greatest moments of all time, it is not even on the list.

J. Falcon 03-22-2010 11:41 AM

Joe Montanda "The Drive" Super Bowl XXIII

I don't mean to be rude, but if you put that in the top 10 you have no idea about sports history. I can probably think of 30 moments in football alone that are more significant than that.

Caligari 03-22-2010 11:51 AM

Of course you're not being rude, but you are just stating your opinion which is what anyone is doing on this thread.

Let me guess, you either won money on the game, are a Saints fan, or live in New Orleans.

and now for something totally different, still one of th great moments

J. Falcon 03-22-2010 12:15 PM

I'm done, someone else post some other great moments.

Redmanthatcould 03-22-2010 12:26 PM

This was my favorite Jordan moment.

This was my favorite Sampras moment, even though there were many others between him and Agassi...

justinsain 03-22-2010 01:02 PM

Not the greatest but still pretty amazing.

TheStout 03-22-2010 01:13 PM

This thread needs some baseball. Not many game winning bottom of the ninth homeruns to win a world series.

stickyfingerz 03-22-2010 01:23 PM

Can't believe this hasn't been posted yet....

I still remember seeing that - that was fucking sick (literally even, lol). Tennis is not like a team sport where if you're sick you can go to the sidelines, have other teammates carry the load or whatever - especially at that level, it's strenuous as hell and it's not like Corretja was a pushover at that time - was just a total testament to how great a champion Sampras was.

That said, the Federer/Nadal marathon Wimbledon final that saw Nadal upsetting him was pretty amazing too. The level of tennis in that match was probably bigger than anything else I'd ever seen.

I was going to post a lot of baseball moments but unfortunately MLB does not let their official footage be uploaded to youtube.com

I wanted to post the George Brett Pine Tar Incident.

That memory is still too painful. I've read that the guy who refereed the game can't watch video of the "goal" either.

I watched some bull riding on TV once and one of the riders had been badly injured throughout the competition. He had a black eye, bruised ribs, his arm was in a sling and he needed a crutch to walk and he still got on another bull to try and win the finals. The announcer said that this is the way they make their living and if he doesn't get back on he won't get a check. I can't believe they let him but he got on that bull and rode it in the condition he was in.

I don't remember what he placed but I do know he didn't win. It's the single greatest " play through the pain " moment I've ever seen and whenever I see someone like those crybaby basketball players that lay on the hardwood for five minutes with a jammed finger I always think about that tough as nails cowboy :thumbsup

By those standards alone the Giants victory 2 years earlier over the Patriots was even better.

That's probably my favorite moment in sports.

What's better than one person giving another person the chance to live their dream and watching them succeed :thumbsup:thumbsup
