You actually think the lakers can play .750 basketball from here on out to make the playoffs?? be for real... They need to go better than 40-20 the rest of the season to even have HOPE to make the playoffs...not happening

triumph 12-25-2002 09:19 PM

People do not realize that lakers are losing because Chick Hearn Is Dead! The heart of the lakers died!

Damn I hate the kings.

the Lakers season is shocking. I don't think even with Shaq being out early in the season anybody thought the Lakers would struggle too much, at least .500, not making the playoffs wasn't considered a possibility by anybody.

I hear there is major conflict between the front office and Phil Jackson. They want to make some changes and Phil won't let them, he is so stuck on the triangle offense, Lakers management wants to at least be prepared for the day Jackson is gone and they want to start doing some retooling. This is what happened in Chicago during Jordan and Jackson's last years, the GM Jabba the Krause wanted to start rebuilding on the go but Jackson wouldn't let him. So the day when Jordan and Jackson walked out the franchise was a mess, players only coached to play one system, the triangle, and little talent because Jackson wouldn't let them bring in any youth or different types of players. So five years later the Bulls are still a mess and the L.A. management fears the same thing when Jackson bolts. They're also worried about Shaq who claims he's not going to play much longer and even more worried because Kobe Bryant refuses to sign a new deal and is talking about looking around at other options.

Worst case scenario in a few years - Shaq, Kobe and Jackson are all gone, Lakers are the Bulls.

Here's something interesting, Vince Carter is already signed to a long term deal with Toronto, 7 years, he's been exposed as a bit of a soft player and he's gotten softer under Lenny Wilkens but there's still no doubt that when healthy he is the most talented and exciting player in the game. Would the Lakers trade Kobe for Vince? Not sure Toronto would because Kobe can become a free agent and chances of him staying in Toronto aren't great.
Carter's got more charisma than Kobe, L.A. might be the town for him.

Of course I am a Lakers fan, but it doesn't even look like they'll make the playoffs. That's fucked up.

I just prooves that Shaq elevated the whole team the last three years. When he's not 100%, the rest of the team shows they're no better than the worst team in the NBA.

Kobe's contract is up next year i believe,Shaq still has 4 years...Kobe will get signed as a free agent to the Grizzlies with Jerry West is the rumor, they've got a shit load of cap room... Of course all that depends on the Lakers outcome this year and next :glugglug

It's not even Shaq,he still gets 25 and 12 a game...Look at the "supporting cast" ... Fox is getting old, they are never in a position to need Horry to win a game,Derrik Fisher thinks he's a superstar

KINGS BAAAAABY!!!
