TGP noob!
 

Hello, so I decided to experiment with making a tgp site, not so much to be an income or anything per se, but to play around with it and see if its something I can use to help with some of my other business ventures.

I am utterly lost and confused... is there a program that puts all the galleries and such together or how to you make that, not just html or anything I assume. I thought using something like trade pulse (free version) is something you use so I installed that but don't get what it does... is there a newbie guide somewhere or just giving me a quick outline of how you "throw" one of these sites up there?

ie. use this type of program, that sets up this, then use this for this, done. lol

Obviously it takes much more for a successful one but at this point that's not what I am concerned with.

I'll give you a hint:

Trade Pulse: Traffic Trading Script. It's how sites grow.
Smart Thumbs: TGP script. It's what makes the site that you can grow, with Trade Pulse.

First of all you will need a TGP script. There are quite some of them around, however don't fall for unstable scripts that nobody has ever heard off.

The most stable and developped TGP scripts are:
- TGPX (i VERY much recommend this one, but there is no free version)
- Smart Thumbs (Alternative to TGPX, if you don't want to pay a peny, they have a free skimmed version available)

In addition to a TGP script, you will also need a traffic trading script. Again, there are many of them around, but here is what I recommend:
- TradeX
- Trade Pulse

This is pretty much all you need to start off (except hosting, if you're looking for a cheap solution I recommend Just Host and use the promo code 50OFF to get a 50% discount. That's $2.45 unlimited hosting with 1-3 free domains.)

Ok, a bit of an issue I have been having with any programs I try and install. They all say to chmod the directories and files to 777 but it doesnt work, my host said that the directories need to be 755 and the files 644 but this causes lots of problems when installing because it installs files as 777 and halfway through the installs it causes an error so I have to try and restart the installs halfway through which dont seem to work. For example im running install.php it wont run as 777 but if I change it to 644 it runs fine, but then it adds idk admin.php which it starts to run but it installs it at 777 which causes an error halfway through the install. So i filezilla in and change that file and refresh. But this keeps causing all sorts of weird consequences etc etc. and I have yet to get any of them working.

I tried smart thumbs and i forgot the other ones but its the same issue.

Any ideas with this problem I am having?

Some servers do not allow 777 and 666 permissions for directories and files. This is typically the case on servers where PHP is running as a CGI or using suPHP. If your server is configured this way, then you will need to use 755 permissions on directories and 644 permissions on files.

This needs to be done manually, unless the script let's you choose your server's permission prior to the installation process. TradeX allows you to set the permission before the installation starts.

good luck with your TGP, Smart Thumbs is really nice I think. You can easily get a huge amount of free hosted galleries (any kind, any niches) there, we imported all FHGs there too.

Ok I finally figured out how to get smart thumbs to install but its as confusing as hell... I dont know how to get galleries in and I dont know how to make it show on my page. LOL Producing content is sooo much easier!
