I'm getting a new TV in a few weeks, but wich one???

Hello GFY, I need your help once again!
I'm going to get a LCD TV Full HD in a few weeks, but I don't know wich one is better:
Sony Bravia
Panasonic Viera
Philips
LG
Sharp
I like the panasonic viera but I'm not sure...
I'll use it for gaming (Xbox 360) and for watching TV but I don't have a HD signial, just regular cable tv.
Comments and suggestions???

Zorgman 03-20-2010 08:40 AM

Sharp & Samsung are 2 of the better brands imo.
Get the new thin led technology. as big as you can afford.

nakeddutch 03-20-2010 09:06 AM

[SIZE="4"]samsung / sony SIZE]

Zuzana Designs 03-20-2010 09:06 AM

Samsung has always been good to me.

Juicy D. Links 03-20-2010 09:07 AM

SAMSUNG LED all the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got one and the picture blew me the fuck away to the point where myself and anybody who watches it says OMFG

Si 03-20-2010 09:07 AM

LG are my favourite.

Sharp also very good, sony are usually good aswell but the prices ain't justified. They usually seem slightly more expensive than most others for no real benefit.

I would probably wait though, 3DTV is coming soon. I wanted to get a bigger LCD but i've decided to wait until the 3D one's are out.

Juicy D. Links 03-20-2010 09:08 AM

Here is the samsung ones http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-UN55B8...01287&sr =8-2

I like Samsung, I have a 37 inch in the bedroom and home office and a 52 inch in the tv room and we love them. As far as not having a HD signal either order it from your cable provider or you can purchase rabbit ears antenna and get your local stations in HD over the air for free, truth be told the free over the air picture quality is better then the compressed feeds that cable and satellite offer.

I don't know which brand is the best just yet, but here's what you want to look for:

LED Technology.
- LED TV's have the brightest colors, the fastest refresh rate, the highest contrast ratios, and are the only ones that can produce a true black color (important!)

- LED TV's use less power and run much cooler.

- Best of all, the refresh rate on these suckers is now at 240hz and higher. This means that not only is motion super smooth and images are rock solid, but they will support the new 3D TV Format coming out THIS YEAR. Tons of Hollywood movies have been shot or rendered (or re-rendered) in the new 3D format already. Buying a new TV today without considering the new format is a waste of money in my opinion.

I'm not sure but I believe that Samsung, Panasonic, and LG already offer these models.

Found these:
http://www.3dmovielist.com/3dhdtvs.html
http://hothardware.com/News/Samsung-...-More-3D-Gear/

Also I read recently that a new TV Channel, DISCOVERY 3D, will be the first channel on Satelite and Cable to broadcast only 3D HDTV content, and that from now on EVERY Dreamworks Animated movie will be in 3D - no more 2D!

Happy shopping!

i can't believe that this 3d gimmick is catching on so much. i wouldn't want to watch stuff in 3d all the time..

Bman 03-20-2010 10:54 AM

Only a few people manufacture the screens...So basically you are buying a branded tv.

On that note Samsung has been good to me. 42 inch tv is excellent no problems

I have their computer monitor as well. 32 inch I just had a problem and it had a 3 year year warranty. They paid for the shipping to repair it!
Might want to look at who offers the best warranty and stuff too.

A confusing post...

Does this mean that the 55" Samsung Series 8 LED/LCD that I bought last October will 3D, or did I just get fucked out of 3D?

8500 series or the 9000 series

:thumbsup:thumbsup:thumbsup 8500 rules :thumbsup:thumbsup:thumbsup

But you must go to the store and see for yourself

MaDalton 03-20-2010 11:14 AM

go to a store where you can check the TVs with a regular cable signal and not a just a bluray. in HD mode mostly all of them look fine. and just cause one TV of a brand is good it doesn't mean every other is too. I have a Toshiba that has an excellent picture with non HD signal and when i bought my mother another Toshiba it sucked. you have to see it yourself

Waddymelon 03-20-2010 11:23 AM

I got this one - UN55B8000XFXZA

nolongerexists 03-20-2010 11:27 AM

solid advices lol... go to proper av forum and as this question.. ;-)

themadwriter 03-20-2010 11:53 AM

Congrats Andres on saving up the money to get yourself a TV. Personally i'd say read reviews on each of the TV's and see which one best suits your needs.

A lot of people say 720p is best for gaming, where as others have made good arguments about going full 1080p/i for gaming.

Octopus 03-20-2010 02:04 PM

My friend just bought Philips. 42" class Full HD 1080p LCD TV Pixel Precise HD.
Great TV!!!

F-U-Jimmy 03-20-2010 02:43 PM

OK STOP THE PRESSES!!!!!

I just got back from Best Buy. Fucking amazing thing, Samsung's new 3D TV is out and selling like hot cakes. People are queueing up to buy this technology. I hated the 3D in Avatar but loved the film this new Samsung 3D effect is out of this world. I sat there with these high quality glasses watching a Pixar Monster film transfixed, all these kids had queued up to watch and I wouldn't budge. I was literally blow away and the best news is that the highly successful 8500 backlit series is being made into a 3D version as well should be out next month some time.

Another piece of great news is the price for the current 3D version is less than $3000 They expect the 8500 3D version to top $4000 but shit i have my name down for one of these beauties :thumbsup:thumbsup:thumbsup:thumbsup:thumbsup:thum bsup:thumbsup

The Duck 03-20-2010 02:56 PM

Samsung has some very nice high end models.

Sosa 03-20-2010 03:21 PM

So you are going to wear these 3d glasses everytime you want to watch 3d tv? Umm i'll pass. I'm mostly a sports watcher though so just give me nice HD with good refresh rate and I'm good.

Sure why not ? They are only for the 3D content all other programs are in the same Samsung high quality 2D as the std 8500 series so no glasses needed there. Glasses are the only commercially available way to view 3D at this time. One day they may perfect lenticular screens that require no glasses, but i was working with that technology 35 years ago and its not advanced very much since

NBBCash Matze 03-22-2010 08:37 AM

still happy with my panasonic plasma but if you have decided to get a LCD you should check out the Sony Bravia TVs, they have a very nice picture quality (best LCD TV brand I think).

candyflip 03-22-2010 08:38 AM
