A network that once included more than 1,000 grass-roots groups, Acorn, which stands for Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, was created in 1970 and has fought for liberal causes like raising the minimum wage, registering the poor to vote, stopping predatory lending and expanding affordable housing.

They had probably been giving out "advice" like that in the videos since the 70's.

ACORN's star rose and fell seemingly overnight.

Good! Though they will most likely just reform under a different name and start leeching money off of us all over again. At least this way we get a break from it.

They can file for bankruptcy under ACORN because they've already registered a new entity in New York and are back in operation, apparently to 'escape the stigma' of the ACORN name. lol We'll see them at the next election, I'm sure. :)
