Fucking Content Spam Bots
 

God Dammit, these are annoying as fuck. Bots are the the fucking insects of cyber-space, feeding on your traffic like insects feed on crops. Is anyone on the net a fucking person anymore? I understand the rationale for some kinds of bots, like auto-submitters and friend requesters, so long as they are approved by the sites they crawl. But blog comment/forum post spam bots serve no fucking purpose whatsoever.

As for forum post spam, no need to go that route. If anyone is looking for forum sig links with 50 REAL POSTS per account (posted by humans :1orglaugh), hit me up :) All do follow, all have PR. Availability depends on the link/keyword you're trying to push.

Implement a captcha and save yourself time and frustration.

Secure your scripts, booby-trap with cgi scripts and kick the shit out using .htaccess.

It won't stop advanced OCR or "human turk" setups but it still has a significant impact... even my stock VB captcha reduced spam registrations from 30+ per day to <2

Some people say I'm a bot, but I'm not. GFY is a technologically advanced forum that has good protections against bot spam.

I used to have a forum I made with phpbb.com software, and it was infested with bots. I got 15+ spam posts a day advertising viagra and other shit.

And the captcha thing didn't help either, many bots signed up every day, anyway.
