Why is Real Estate so cheap in Texas?
Anyone noticed how much bang for you buck you get down there? Mini Mansions for far under 1 mill...
http://www.realtor.com/realestateand...738_1116882670 Does no one want to live there or something? |
Who the fuck wants to live in Texas?
|
No wonder that place is so cheap... its a big house on a small lot. And its in Texas.
If I were going to live in texas I'd have 20+ acres so my neighbors wouldnt be close. Its not like there isnt plenty of empty space there. |
my price range goes up only 150k so it's still too expensive.

Supply and demand. Texas has alot of land.

You'll have people like The Demon as your neighbor.
That alone is enough to drive down property values, I would think. |
Nice house.
Reason. "there aint nothing in texas but steers and queers" |

Property taxes are nearly the highest in the nation ... for one...

That is weird. I was going to say because so much land. the cities are able to expand at will as no natural barriers but that is still an amazing price.

If you were to live in Austin, you could consider yourself lucky. Liberal, educated and talented, the people of Austin know they have it good and how to have a good time.
SXSW, Sixth Street, Warehouse District, Austin City Limits, University of Texas, Hippie Hollow, Barton Springs, the Highland Lakes, Texas Hill Country, Blanton Museum, LBJ Library and so much more are here to enjoy. The reason prices for real estate are so low (compared to LA) is we still have plenty of land to build on. When you buy a home here, you pay for the house and only $10K or so for the land. Really a sweet deal and many people from Northeast and California sell their expensive homes and retire to Austin while pocketing the extra $500K in equity off their old home. |
The percent MSA population change from April 1, 2000, to July 1, 2008, as estimated by the United States Census Bureau.
Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington, TX MSA 6,300,006 +22.06% Houston-Sugar Land-Baytown, TX MSA 5,728,143 +21.48% Austin-Round Rock-San Marcos, TX MSA 1,652,602 +32.23% |

Objectively speaking though, I'd rather live by an asshole than a completely incompetent human being. The asshole might piss me off, the incompetent tool might set my house on fire. |

Dallas has more shopping centers per capita than any other city in the United States. The Texas Medical Center in Houston is the largest medical center in the world. Except for MIT, University of Texas at Austin attracts more federal research grants than any American university without a medical school.

No state income tax balances that out |

Austin is one of the hottest 'cool' cities in the country, some of the best photogs i've seen are in Austin. I was looking at houses, pretty decent value there still.
Texas has beautiful women too, sluts, beautiful slutty women. |

That's a REAL simple question to answer ... There are more sellers than there are buyers. Works the same in ALL markets.

They are smart. Higher taxes and less purchase price per square foot equals much more long term money.. for the gubment.

In Houston they were foreclosing on 3k homes a month and the price of houses dropped 30%. I'd be curious to see how Texas fares with another shakeup in oil. http://www.inflationdata.com/inflati...ices_Table.asp I hope for the good of Texas that the market speculators do not become bored with oil. |
When ever I see threads like this I always get tempted to move somewhere and get a mini mansion. Then I realise I really would not be happy as there is nothing to do when you leave the house.
I would just sit in my house alone haha |
