Health care reform-Pass or fail
I think it will fail. The reason is the Stupak and the prolifers. All the prolifers I've ever met have been rigid about their beliefs.

I want it to pass, and I want Sarah Palin in 2012 since my other candidate isn't running.

I rather have it fail, no reason to rush something like this like the bank bailout and stimulus money...the world is not going to end. This is only going to cost me more money in the future...if your poor healthcare is FREE...if your wealthy you don't care about the cost. Middle class screwed again. :helpme

I think in its current form it will fail.

a sales guy sells you a lambo over the phone with all the options you want.. its your dream lambo... then when you come into the dealership to pick it up he tries to sell you a yugo... and not only does he try to sell you the yugo, but when you complain that this is not the car he described to you, he calls you a liar and tells you that you are too liberal or too conservative (depending on what side he represents) and that you must hate america for not taking the yugo.. in the end, you end up taking the yugo and spend the next 4 years driving around this miserable piece of shit that you hate driving until the next sales guy comes around and tells you about the great new lambo he has for sale with your name written all over it.... what you should have done was punch the first sales guy in the month and burn down his dealership for being a fucking asshole and then shoot all the other sales people and the owner of the dealership as they flee the burning building... there are some things in life where you just have to put your foot down... :2 cents: . . |
I want it to fail but I fear it will pass. Obama, Pelosi and Reid have too much invested in it to lose now.

I think it will pass. It sounds like they are making deals where they will pass the bill then immediately put up amendments to it to change some of the things that some of them don't like. This way they can avoid having to rewrite the bill and trying to get it through the senate. These amendments will modify some of the abortion stuff that some of the more conservative democrats don't like as well as other things.
The high level democrats, as Cykoe6 says, have too much invested now to turn back. They will make whatever deal it takes to get it through and try to fix it later. To me it is two edged sword. Nobody really seems to know what all is in the bill and I still hold out that it will work out for the best. However I fear it will just end up costing 10 times what they thought it will and not do that much good. At the same time I think if they don't get it done now it won't be happening. The democrats are going to lose some seats in the fall elections. They may even lose control of of the house or senate (although I doubt that happens, it could). They will have a smaller majority and the republicans have zero interests in actually reforming health care. With a smaller majority they will have actually deal with the republicans and that means nothing of much merit as far as actual reform will get done. |
The current bill will most likely fail and, were it to pass, it is just another insurance industry bailout and not healthcare reform at all.

Mandating that people buy health insurance without a viable public option is just plain wrong.
Unfortunately this POS law will pass however :disgust |
