Hosting -- 10TB becomes 100TB
So why is bandwidth so expensive with Adult hosting companies?

Yes - saw this earlier today... amazing price.
Anyone using them? |

Dayum 100tb serious bidness
|
Ok, if I've worked this out correctly 100TB is about 312Mbps average. For $199 including server??!? "As you would expect unmetered bandwidth from 100TB is truly unmetered and unshared, with no limits and no small print." How can they offer this price without seriously overselling their bw?

Overselling isn't necessarily a bad thing, it's all about whether or not the bandwidth is properly managed. They pay for the pipes whether it's used or not don't they?
|
That's insanely cheap.

Looking at it another way... if you use even 10% of the transfer you're paying < 2c/gig. If you use 50% it's < 0.4c/gig. |

Make no mistake, 100tb.com is a major host with a major network and support. They have been around a dozen or so years too I believe.

LOL im about to order 5 boxes

In some deals like these, you're getting an older server that can't sustain a high bandwidth site anyway, and they profit by upselling you to a newer or multiple boxes...
|
I bet the usual favorite adult hosts buy more bandwidth than they use too, and if you add up all the allotted bandwidth per customer, they oversell. It's a misused word when it comes to bandwidth management.
I bet the usual favorite adult hosts reuse old server hardware too, I know for a fact as I was paying for some very cheap and very old hardware, and getting a very small amount of bandwidth for 7+ years. I've also used a Softlayer/10TB server for years and they've been great. |

Most people are OVERPAYING for what they really need because they simply do not understand resource management. Some of this is helped by the out of the box packages offered by hosts with too little disk space, older servers, etc.. Most, not all, could cut their hosting expenses by 30-50% easily. |
They look pretty good I was about to try them as well. Anyone want to comment on how good/bad the control panel that they use compared to cpanel?

well if their service is as fast as their site is in europe, then i know where the cheapness comes from. Site has been trying to load whilst i read this topic, during my reply it still tries to load up.

I've seen those prices for unmanaged foreign servers, so the price is nice! |
I also used them for one year, had 7 servers there, but i canceled them all because they made a mistake which pissed me off.I wont be returning there, but i might take one server for hosting static content but that wont be so soon since even now i have too much bandwidth available. And btw i already opened thread with same title,
fucking-around-and-business-discussion/957908-10tb-100tb.html , i guess i forgot to add hosting in title. |

Has anyone opened a 100TB account? How fast are they at getting you up and running? Have you ever had to use their support?

They're a pretty good host in terms of hardware/support/pricing but if you ever get a DMCA watch out. They won't even give you a chance to defend yourself or consider your side of the request. Their only acceptable response to a DMCA is take down the content or they'll shut you down. Even if you own the rights to the content. And even if you get a lawyer to talk some sense into them, they still won't listen...

That's the DMCA / OCILLA law. Example:
